Thought I would post this here for maximum exposure. If mods deem it go elsewhere, so be it.
I’m looking for any and all feedback on Victoria and surrounding area. A business opportunity has come up. Thought some of you guys may have some solid insights about the area. I’m not familiar with the area. Looking for present economic status and possible forecast. Also living conditions?? Any and all info is appreciated. Thank you

It was 1980 last time I was there.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the area currently.
I think I'll move the thread to "hometown" section though.

Grew up just south of Victoria! Town has grown significantly over the past two decades! Not sure of the population at this time! Lots of oilfield workers and farmers! There are several large refineries nearby that employ a lot of folks! Not knowing what kind of business venture your looking at makes it hard to predict anything! Overall it's a nice safe place to raise a family!

I haven’t been around there for the last 10 years, but it used to be a decent mid sized town. Just west of there is Goliad, which is a nice little friendly historical place.

I have been there a couple times over the last couple years. I pit crew and have ran my car in the Texas mile race at the Victoria airport. (End of March and end of October) perfect weather that time of year.

Nice town. Reminds me of where I grew up in Minnesota. Has a good small town feel with good amenities. Short blast to the gulf. Striking distance to Corpus or Houston.

If they had any offerings in my hyper focused trade, I would move there from the DFW in a hot minute.

Thanks for the responses, guys. The business opportunity is industrial related. So the oil/ gas futures are a big part of it. If there is any hope of retirement in my future, this might be it. Big decisions to be made.

They currently do not have a rifle or pistol range. They have a shotgun range near the airport that is is nice, but no other shooting facilities open to the public. Kinda weird with the size of the population there that supports 5 gun shops...... Nice town, two major hospitals, a mall, and lot's of small mom and pop shops. Economically pretty good, cost of housing average. Growing with the usual growing pains..........have had a couple of of folks from Victoria come in and discuss building an indoor range over the last couple of years, but neither have done so, to my knowledge. I did hear recently the City Council would not approve an indoor range in the city limits, but do not have any concrete evidence of that and consider it rumor, not fact....

I have never lived in Victoria, but have lived all around the area, and have long-term friends there.

Victoria is an oilfield service city, with ranching, farming, transportation and some light manufacturing activity.

The City "lives and dies" with oil industry cycles.

Quiet, low cost of living, great hunting, easy Gulf access with fishing. Relatively low crime, low housing costs, plenty available labor & water. Good place to raise a family.

    In the woods...
At one time back in the 80's, it was billed as having the most millionaires per-capita in Texas. I am sure it was oil-related. Anyway, I go through there occasionally and find Victoria to be a nice, clean town.
