I have the older 22/45, great gun. I have the Neos, OK gun, horrible trigger out of the box. Just barely OK. I have the S&W 22 Victory. Great gun, eats anything but doesn't like Browning 22 ammo much though you can use it. My go to gun. I've sold a lot of 22's but tried to steer customers away from the Mosquito; some function OK, many dont. I dont recommend it. The 1911 22's can be very nice. I have one that is very accurate but the thing simply doesn't work reliably. Good paper weight. Umarex seems to use cheap materials and have spotty quality control. None of the above are particularly suited for bullseye type shooting.

    Gunz are icky.
    I have(or have had) these .22 auto's:

S&W MP-22 Compact - reliability excellent - accuracy meh to good. Overall a great little gun.

GSG 1911-22 - reliability good with CCI mini-mag solids. Everything else NO. Accuracy meh. Fun gun with a fair amount of aftermarket goodies.

Stoeger 22 Luger - reliability depends on ammo and mag condition. If they work, they run well. If they do not, well you have a dandy paperweight. There is no in-between. Accuracy very good. ZERO aftermarket. Mags are insane priced and very difficult to obtain. The one aftermarket mag available is junk. Parts are practically unobtanium. Only those stout of heart and sure of motive should proceed.

Ruger MkI - reliability excellent. Accuracy excellent. Huge aftermarket support. All versions of the Ruger Mk's are great guns.

Beretta M21A Bobcat - reliability good if chamber kept clean. As in clean it after a couple of mags fired. A boresnake makes it easy. Accuracy is meh to poor further than 15 ft. No aftermarket. Parts are available.

Browning Buck mark - reliability excellent. Accuracy excellent. Large aftermarket.

All of these run best when clean. Like any 22 auto after a number of rounds they start to gum up and reliability begins to suffer. A quick field strip and wipe down usually restores function.

My vote would go to one of the Ruger 22/45 models. If you have aspirations of getting a silencer, then a threaded barrel model of said Ruger.

My 22/45 is a Mk3; it helped trim the over-populated tree rat population in my backyard by the tune of ~27.

Anybody have one of these? I always thought one of these would be fun for plinking. S&W Model 617 ten shot 22LR:

I’m kinda thinkin’ (always a dangerous thing for me), with a ‘cowboy action’ trigger job, this could really be - as they say - “badass”!
