If they were only allowed one term in office, your recommended second term would probably not be required.

I'm all for term limits. IMHO, the limit should be no more than 12 years. Also if you want to run for a different office than what you have you have to resign your current office.

12 years would be six terms in the House, two terms in the Senate. It would pretty much put an end to Senators running for President.

I'd vote for a maximum of four years in office for any political position. :green:

I've thought of exactly this with exception to senators not running for prez. I'm fine with that. Up to 12 years in Congress and up to 8 years POTUS. I don't think 12 years in house and another 12 years in Senate and 8 years as prez is a good idea.

Nope, one term only. That way they would not be beholden to anyone for re-election contributions. Maybe they would actually vote on what they think is right, rather than selling out for re-election funds.

I've always thought 10 years would do. So one term as Senator and one as POTUS would be it. Two as Representative and one as Senator. One as Rep and two as POTUS, etc. same goal though, no life long positions. Also could only be a Senator for one term, that may be more important than allowing two POTUS terms personally.

I'm not opposed to those in Congress becoming President, but only with the most strict limits. It would definitely force more "outsiders" into that office and may bring business sense and may also force them to be more in tune with he people.

What about 2nd term POTUS requires X% of the vote or they are eliminated and there is another vote?

Why is it that people who are elected by the people of a state and are supposed to represent that state are Federal employees?

Also the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed.

They wouldn't have much choice if a convention of the states occurred. They could either abide by it or risk getting wrecked. There aren't enough of them to do shit, despite all of their cronies.

    To All,

Excepting the office of the POTUS, IF I could do so, I would limit all elected Congress-critters to a total of six year in office, ban all pensions to elected members of Congress or appointees by any federal political entioty, allow their CD or State legislature to set their total salary/staff levels, BAN requesting, soliciting, offering or receiving anything "of value" to/from any person for whom they cannot vote and after their 6 years in elective office that the members of the Congress would have to leave Washington, DC & NOT do any appointed or contracted work for any federal agency of the federal government.

Similarly, I would limit all federal judges to 10 years total on the bench.

In other words, I favor the sort of citizen's government that Thomas Jefferson, George Mason & other founders of our republic envisioned.

I also hereby present myself to the people to serve them in an office they see fit.

In fact, ten years ago I printed bumper stickers announcing my candidacy and would have run had not Mr. Trump run instead. Bumper stickers are still available though now they are vintage and hold no value. Interestingly though, my slogan was "Original American Values", similar to "Make America Great Again" in intent.

I would like to see the states propose an amendment to the Congress. We hold most of the legislatures and governorships, time for us to send a message to DC what we want.

    oldag,

SORRY but one of these days, even Justice Thomas will be too feeble physically and/or mentally to serve adequately, too. = Happens to the best of us.
(I just hope that I die before I lose my ability to think clearly. = I've watched too many people, whom I loved, who became incompetent to do anything but sit & stare at the wall.)
