Anyone know the standard protocol, if there is one, regarding drug/alcohol/intoxicant testing of the LEO in this situation? We're all human, and we all make mistakes...but I'm having a hard time grasping this one right now.

Not very likely she did not know what was her own apartment, I must admit.

Even if tired/sick/whatever and walked into the wrong apartment, would she not recognize the furnishings were different?

How did she get in? Most folks keep their front door locked, and presumably her key would not fit someone else's door.

    Gunz are icky.
    What do I think?

I think Officer Blastumup was bumping uglies with the dead guy.
She came home from night shift wanting a quickie.
She walked in on him unexpectly and caught Mr.Harddick with his pants down.
Officer Blastumup gets angry and shoots Mr.Harddick.
Dallas PD lies thru their ass to cover it up.

    You asked.

Something like that. And other scenarios of similar nature, none of them having her "accidentally walking into the wrong apartment that just happened to have the same key, furnishings, layout, approach..." I mean this isn't East Germany or the Cabrini Green Homes.

    East German apartment blocks:

So easy to blame the police. Making up your own "stories" and armchair quarterbacking is nonsensical forum entertainment, but hardly factual evidence.
How many of you are, or were, peace officers? Anyone? Seek facts and don't create fiction.....

Oh come on BW. This entire story reeks of bullshit.
Even if it went down like it is being told it is a screw up of monumental proportions.
What do you think would happen to you had you done this? You would be under the jail and you know it.

Of course its nonsensical forum entertainment, thats part of what makes TGT what it is. On a serious note, do you feel that we must walk in someone else's shoes in order to empathize with them or have a basic understanding of their job duties? I have LEO in my family, and several in my circle of friends, and I've got money that says their sentiments mirror my own.

Even the scenario presented so far, is a document to idiocy and incompetence at best. So even if we take that story at face value, she needs to lose her job and go to jail because yes, she is the one to blame here... according to the story presented by the DPD.

Now how LIKELY that story is, we're allowed to speculate. And we're most certainly allowed to mock her.
