Hope she will be okay. I also hope she realizes that her boyfriends selfless, valiant actions is the reason she is alive to raise her children.

Cannot stress enough the importance of practice. Shame that the CHL holder didn't come out on top, but at least he got a hit on the scumbag.

    Hang the bastard.

And the importance of awareness. Especially since there had been other robberies there, and they were walking out with the till.

It doesn't make it any less sad. My family is from that area and although I haven't been there in years, it's sad to think that kind of thing goes on in Lufkin. But then again, most small towns in that area have some level of that "element".

After reading more and more stories about BG's getting the jump, I've been more vigilant in keeping aware. If I catch myself with my hands in my pocket, looking down, or just not being aware I make it a point to look around.

You just never know when someone is going to try something stupid, and I'd prefer to look like a hard target and not have to deal with it to begin with.

I wonder how much would have been different had the GF had a weapon as well......I know mine has expressed interest in taking the course.

Double the odds that the BG would have been hit fatally. Double the odds that we wouldn't be putting a scumbag into prison after paying for his health care, only to spend thousands upon thousands persecuting, feeding, and executing this jackass.

It's debatable if it would have saved the CHL holders life since we don't know if the first shot was the fatal one.

While it may be debatable if it would have saved the CHL holders life since we don't know if it was the first shot was the fatal one, then it is equally debatable that the odds are doubled that the BG would have been hit fatally. Simply having another person with a gun isn't enough. It has to be used effectively in the fight.

Actually, the FIRST shot appears to have been into Jeffrey's ankle. So we know it wasn't fatal. Had Jeffrey's had a gun and used it effectively, she might have been able to be shooting the BG before her boyfriend was in the battle, but who is to say?

Sad story. At least the suspect was shot and they do not have to try and figure out who did it.I hope this guy gets life so he can suffer behind bars for the rest of his life.I think the death penalty is too good for this jerkoff.+1 be aware of your surroundings.Anyone hear anything else about the cop who got robbed while washing his motorcycle?

    Sad story ideed.

Especially since the store had been robbed before, and you see a guy running "with intent" straight for you,****ing RUN and take some kind of cover, behind a car, corner of building something. Then, from that position, find out what they want, if their intentions haven't already been made clear.

    Too little, too late.

The FIRST robbery should have thrown up a red flag that the woods near the resturant was a GREAT hiding place for bad guys. And, since the FIRST robbers WEREN'T even caught... gee, do you suppose this will happen again?

I blame the resturant owner for his blatant lack concern for his employees' welfare.

I'm very saddened that a CHL Good Guy lost his life protecting his GF and someone elses money. But I am INFURIATED that the resturant OWNER failed to take corrective ACTION the FIRST TIME!

I do think it would be interesting to know the type and caliber gun he carried.

There was no mention of caliber of either one found at the scene. However, the Police found the perpetrator laying in a ditch. My opinion is, they found him TOO SOON. He was in the ditch for 20 minutes, and in another 15-20 minutes he would have been very DEAD.

The perp was shot in the abdomen, also known as a "gut shot". This is excruciatingly painful and fatal if medical attention isn't provided fairly quick. This is why he was in the ditch in the first place, it's a shame he didn't die in the DITCH where he belongs... right with the resturant owner.

A "gut shot" from most any caliber is bad, but a big bore hollow point in the exact same location would have likely dropped the perp in his tracks, and he would have died shortly thereafter.

It's too bad really. But this just goes to show that being armed yourself doesn't make you invincible. It just gives you a better chance. Also helps to illustrate you must be on guard wherever you are and at any time of the day.

Also, the owner is a piece of shit. I work in a liquor store and we just throw the money up in the safe and they deposit it in the mornings.
