Just got back from the mesquite rodeo gun show as well as the museum militaria gun show in greenville.

Mesquite had a full 400 tables. Lots of same old BS, revolvers and 1911s priced 100-200% more than what they are worth. Tables of cheap garbage conceal carry pistols and some other yard sale type stuff.

Didn't really see anything other than a Glock 41 MOS for 599.

The museum militaria show was much smaller but there was a large amount of reasonably price milsurps. Lots of interesting historical pieces, swords, rifles, etc. My FFL, David Nunn of Nunn's guns had a table there. I ended up taking home a Gen 2 Glock 22 from him

I haven't added a piece to my 1943 collection for a long time. The shows seem to cater to amateurs and children. Are there any good shows with a nice selection of WW II stuff anymore?

    Out here by the lake!
Personally I think gun shows are obsolete! Way to much chinese knock off shit & beef jerky. Price of parking & admission is hard to swallow too.

Aint nothing I can't find on the internet.

I have a sp, the boltorterized 7.62 Enfield I'll let go for $550. Deal?
I beat that at the gun show, he was asking $600 but I beat him down HARD to $599.99. The stock had been carved up with a dull Sawzall, the bolt was frozen but he tossed in a small can of WD 40 to break it loose. The barrel has a slight, very slight bend in it, but he gave me half dozen rds of ball and said if I fire them thru it, it will straighten out bend. Gonna make someone a good hunter when I get it all done, I will list it here first for my buds on TGT...

That show in greenville was mostly milsurp with a focus on WW2. I actually saw a decent Springfield Garand for 999 which is about 700-1000$ less then what most people ask for at gunshows. I also saw a really nice, all matching K98 for $600.

I went last week to the SAXET in San Antonio to kill so time. The prices for used guns reminds me to keep going to GT Distributors in Austin.

Used older model 9mm Sig P226 for $899. I saw brand new ones for around $700.

Multiple tables with used Glocks for $600

I never understood why the used guns were so high when you can get a new one cheaper.

Even the prices for magazines were too high but it's always been like that.

Do ALL these dudes smoke crack?

Moonpie just back from small town gunshow.
Is it some unwritten rule thing that every firearm be priced 100% more than it should be?
Fudd guns. Fudd guns everywhere. Very overpriced Fudd guns. Unless you like bolt action shotguns. Even the .22lr rifles were off the chain.
If I see one more Bubba'ed .303 Enfield for $600 I'm gonna hurl.
Sheeeesh…….I should get a table and sell at those prices. I could retire.
What gunshow is it? I don't want to waste my time going there.

Thanks, I'll have to watch for it. I have never been to the Greenville show.

Today at Mesquite there was some dude with a private sale table. He had three sigs, one brand new p227, an old and heavily used p229 in .40 and a SP2022 that was so sandy and discolored that it looked like it came out of a camels ass in the deserts of iraq. The prices were $850, $550 and $450 firm.

Occasionally i see an odd piece and get some information. The last show I went to had two interesting guns that I liked, but they were at the upper end+ of what they should be. Not horribly unreasonable, but too much for me to spring for.

I suppose I only got interested in guns when $300 SKS's are the norm.

Yep, the best deals I’ve gotten at gun shows have been on Sundays about an hour or so before closing. .....

    So true.

First and foremost....go expecting to buy nothing but go with a pocket full of cash.

Remember it's just a game for most table-sellers.
The big dealers are all business. Retail fair generally.

The little-table guys are there for a bit of income and a lot of social camaraderie.
Their prices are often cost + 100%. It's a game.

Just walk looking for the pearls.
The guys walking with guns and motivated to sell are often cash-hungry and insulted/discouraged by low offers from the table-guys. Buddy up to them if they have something you want.

I rarely come home empty handed after my 30+ years of gun shows.
I may be a box of oddball ammo, an HK stock, a scope mount or a $700 pristine SP1 carbine(July!)

It's a swap meet, flea market or however you see it.

Enjoy and don't take it too seriously.

I think I paid $175 for mine in '99. Old man did a phenomenal job of cleaning it up and had a ton of extras. I didn't argue with his price. That was the 2nd rifle I purchased after turning 18.
