Deer Season 2018 opened with a nice big cull doe and a 3.5 to 4 year old 7 point buck.

    I used the reliable 20" P-308 & Vortex Razor HD 5-20 w/ a Surefire SOCOM762RC and a Rifles Only HAD suppressor cover.

I used the Steiner HX15x56mm binoculars from www.ThirdCoastThermal.com to get a close look. I am amazed at how useful a great set of binoculars is when hunting. This set was provided by Third Coast Thermal.

Deer Season 2018. Before www.eatontacticalinnovations.com, i had to make case inserts at home by hand.
    @pofusa 20" POF P-308 & Vortex Razor HD 5-20 w/ a Surefire SOCOM762RC and a Rifles Only HAD suppressor cover.

I used a hot wire cutter and made templates to cut this phone myself. Now that @eatontacticalinnovations Innovations is doing custom foam sets for a very reasonable price, there's no reason to spend this much time rolling your own.

This is a Savage. 22lr with a Vortex Viper PST, Harris bipod and Dead Air Mask HD. The www.eatontacticalinnovations.com case insert for precision rifles fits the Pelican 1750 case. I have been using this insert for several months and it works well with multiple precision rifles. It has a place for the:
    bolt,
    rangefinder
    Bipod
    Sling
    Cleaning kit
    Dope book

First two deer of deer season 2018.

    Shot at Wild River Ranch.

Just cooked one of the hearts for my 8yo.

4 tablespoons olive oil, divided1 tablespoon sherry or red wine vinegar
    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon dried oregano
    1 teaspoon dried thyme
    1 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 or 4 colored bell peppers, cut into 2 to 3 pieces each
1 large onion, cut into large wedges

    Awesome recipe

This is the 400-yard target. You can see all the flattened 22-caliber projectiles that impacted it.

22mil of elevation gets the gemtech subsonic .22s to 400 yards. They flatten on steel.

Sean you tend to own really nice gear, why the Steiner binoculars? I really figured you for a Swarovski EL's.
I didn't have any good binoculars and Clifford at Third Coast thermal asked me to try those out and tell and what I thought of them. That just turned into a long-term demo loaner deal. I've put them up against leicas and they were comparable. The guy that owns the laika's and has a lot more experience looking through glass than I do thought the laikas were slightly better in the Dawn and dusk times when it's dark. I really couldn't tell a difference

I miss it. Just not strong enough for it anymore. Killing a deer is the easy part. Skinning it, quartering it, gutting it, and putting in the cooler for the processer, that is what tears me up. I miss it though. But, I always preferred hunting doe's. I can't eat the antlers. Trying to get my son out there with an experienced hunter, that I used to hunt with.

Friday at the Deer Lease. My friend's first deer of the 2018 regular season. An older 9pt. Taken with the Mosin-Nagant 91-30 made in 1942 w/ AAC Cyclone. @james.l.hardin

The barrel was shortened to 22" and threaded 9/16x24 nf tpi. A Timeny trigger was installed, the stock was shortened and stripped of all lacquer then true oiled without staining. The action was pillar bedded and the barrel free floated and glass bedded. An ATI scope mount kit was added. The @primaryarmsonline 4-14 FFP Mil-Mil scope was selected. The bolt was customised. The barelled action and magazine were duracoated. The AAC Cyclone is attached with a thread adapter that was checked for concentricity.

Finally, a cool mosin lol. That deer went swimming.
Would y’all believe I’m in the deer stand right now and somehow a feral house cat managed to find its way to me and is meowing outside the stand! Can’t inspect because there’s deer eating lol
(I’m about 3/4 a mile from the nearest house)
