It ain’t the mayor or council, it’s the city manager that proposes budgets and makes recommendations to the council for how to spend.

I’d rather get rid of the city manager entirely and have an elected official responsible for day to day operations.

At least then, I get a say in whether they keep their job.

Even if we were annexed, there’s no way to get rid of the city manager.

I could care less if he is half Hispanic, and Half Irish. It is his politics I don't like. Race is irrelevant to me. What the person intends to do as a politician bothers me.

A buddy in the Corps a few years ago was white and born in SA. His parents were Americans and were missionaries to Africa. Some folks also did not appreciate him being “African-American.”

Nope. The vast majority of religions are collectivist. The exceptions are very early Christians and Enlightenment era protestants (mostly Anglican and American). Buddhism is individualistic as well, but it's not really a religion in the western sense.

I only say this so we can better appreciate how American culture is different.

I had a buddy years ago that by law was African American. Both parents were Irish who moved to Rhodesia for work. He was so white he glowed, had the reddest hair too.

He hated the African American tag.
