Speaking of killing bugs, anybody know what this thing is? I just killed it over my back door.

Including the antennas, it was 5-6" long and, despite the look of the picture, the body was silver.

Looks like a kind of borer beetle, not sure which. they have many types, usually associated with the type of tree their larvae bore into.

My initial thought was an assassin bug. Google showed some that looked identical, but I wasn't able to narrow it down. A quick Google search for assassin bug will lead you in the right direction.
