Is it open to the public? Who maintains it and do they give tours? Has Political Correctness found its way into being a decent landmark or, has it been taken over with touchy-feely nonsense?

I believe San Antonio is still decent. Not like parts of Austin.

“You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas.” Davy Crockett said this angrily after losing his Tennessee bid for the U.S. Congress.

I think he really said, “Y’all can go to hell,” but grammatical purity likely corrupted the original transcription.

No sir, not politics as usual.

If you actually read the article I provided, you would understand Bush's plan for the Alamo is driven by a bunch of carpet-bagging Yankee revisionists who want to tell a story about Santa Ana being good for and to the defenders.

Thank you for the info and for sharing the story. I enjoyed it. I hope it (the history) of the Alamo lives on. Seems like most of our history, values, and traditions are being swept away, Sad.

Excuse me. I'm on your side. I've learned a long time ago to NOT listen to W. I don't trust him. I used to. But not anymore.

Why I am in Ft. Worth instead of San Antonio, where most of my relatives are.

My mom married a Civil Servant who took a job at Carswell moving from Lackland.

I miss SA and the hill country.
