My suggestion is keep the HK 91. You could sell it for lots of $ and then buy a PTR to replace it much cheaper.
That’s true, I’d never try to reload anything that was shot out of my HK-91 or PTR, but I wouldn’t hesitate to pull either one out when I needed an MBR.The biggest problem with both is they are hell on brass.
If I hit the lottery, I'll have a SIG AMT.Give me your suggestions on a good one.
Ruger SR 762.
Chrome plated BCG. Chrome lined, cold hammer forged barrel. Chrome plated piston and adjustable regulator. Folding iron BUS. Magpul stock. And if you like two stage triggers, it comes with a decent Ruger trigger. Plus excellent warranty service should it ever be needed.
Accurate, sweet shooting.
I asked my dad for an HK 91 when I was 16, in the 1970s. He ordered it at a local shop but all they did was make excuses. The money that was going to get it for me eventually went to buy me my first Wichita. Not as good an investment but a much nicer gun.I bought a HK91A3 in 1983, and loved it.
For me it would be a custom tuned AR10 in
308 w/ 13.5" bbl & dual-optics.
IMHO, just about the best all-around option there is, assuming no issues with a little weight (not too much), and thorough reliability tuning/testing.
Dual-optics gives you both CQB and MR/LR capabilities, and 13.5 is about the sweet-spot for maneuverability while maintaining sufficient velocity & TE to reach out and touch things...The shorter bbl will likely even be more accurate (within effective range) due to superior harmonics...
ETA: quick check shows a 168smk from a 13.5" 1/10 bbl predicted to go transonic at around 930yds with almpst 460FPE still (at ~6500 DA); that's some solid reach, and the better short-bbl harmonics will likely increase general precision within that range...
A Sig 716 does well. I prefer it over my M1A. Both are heavy pigs to anyone not used to something like that.
That's a fair statement, as it was just a quick calculation and I can't personally attest to accuracy of the numbers.I think those estimates are way too optimistic for that barrel length and bullet choice.
