There has been some discussion about copyright; that notice at the top of the page is hard to miss.

This has been incorporated into the Code of Conduct. It's never a bad idea, even if you've been a member for a long time, to go back and read over the Code of Conduct here.

Also, it helps the staff if you hit the "report" button when you see a Code of Conduct violation. We can't read every post so we rely on our fellow members to help keep the place clean.

I'm glad you posted this. I've never read it before, but just did. Been on here for a few years now and am embarrassed to say that I didn't know where it existed.

I have a question? Why not MP4's. Not long drug out but less than 2 M.

What do you mean? If it’s about uploading vids directly to the forum it is most likely an issue of server space. I’m no expert on the area but I do know that those 2minute vids will add up to a lot of data very quickly.

Question. Is quoting just the first sentence hard and fast? I've frequently quoted another particularly egregious one further down the article.

The idea is to make sure the owner of the original article gets credit and a nod for the site which gets revenue. I had a friend who was a fellow student at an institution of higher learning get accused of plagiarism. Turns out the software nor the person at the university was aware that he was plagiarizing himself since he had written the paper he was accused of plagiarizing.

Actually, there's more to it than that. There are legal changes pending that make it a lot more complicated than just giving credit to the author and source.
You are probably right as I don't keep track of it. Lawyers Lobbyists and Legislators tend to make things way more complicated than they need to be. I am a simple man. I read the rules and try to follow them. In these times that may not be enough.

It is copyrighted when created. It no longer requires the circle C to be copyrighted. If it does the copyright owner is able to get legal fees in the event of successful lawsuit.

That is the gist of the 1994 copyright law.
