How do you deal with DUI deaths? Overdose deaths? Traffic deaths? Non-gun related homicide and suicide?
Those categories of tragic losses are no different.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_vehicle_fatality_rate_in_U.S._by_year
The table below shows the motor vehicle fatality rate in the United States by year from 1899 through 2016. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 2016 data shows 37,461 people were killed in 34,436 motor vehicle crashes, an average of 102 per day.

    https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/statistics/suicide.shtml
There were more than twice as many suicides (44,965) in the United States as there were homicides (19,362).

    https://www.drugabuse.gov/related-topics/trends-statistics/overdose-death-rates
More than 72,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2017, including illicit drugs and prescription opioids—a 2-fold increase in a decade.

But you can’t blame a scary tool with a DUI. Everyone has a car, if you demonized them people who are just cruising through life would look up and see that it’s not about safety, it’s about control and stripping freedoms.

There are always going to be bad people wanting to do bad things. The only way to stop that completely is to have complete control, which is to take away any means in which things can be used to hurt others. The consequence is to take away any means to defend oneself. The more security you have the more freedom you surrender, and people don't understand that cost. Most politicians want power, and it's more difficult to gain power in a free society.

    ^ Good one.

Supposedly Cain and Abel set the precedent in biblical times. Whatever, it is human nature that requires a moral component in order to live in a semblance of harmony.

Arguably, the progressive insistence on removing the teachings of religion, the traditional source of morality, from our culture is the price we pay, as seen in these shootings.

You don't see a contradiction in these two paragraphs of yours? :D

Also, if you're only a good person because the threat of punishment, you're not a good person.

I was only a good person because of the threat of my dad beating my ass. Humans are born selfish and demanding their way. Every person is faced with the choice of doing the right thing, usually daily.

Moral turpitude is taught and learned. Whether by religion or parents. When it's absent you get shows like "Killers" on Netflix.

Where's the contradiction in the moral imperative of the ten commandments, particularly: "Thou shall not kill"?

Either your logic is fuzzy, or you're making it more difficult than it is?

Yes but it won't have the same outcome in CA as it did here

Yup. They're already blaming the NRA. Mental gymnastics: Cali voters agreed to have full cap mags outlawed (probably a rider on a measure to hand out more free money), NRA affiliated org sued, hence shooting this many people with an almost outlawed extended magazine (still don't know what that means, Cali Glock 21 holds 10 rounds, elsewhere 13; so was it a full cap mag or an extra long one like the 33rd 9mm mags?) must have been the NRA's fault, as if you couldn't shoot just as many people just as fast with a Walther PPS using nothing but six round mags.

Certainly, it's not fair that gun owners aren't as helpless as the masses of snowflakes in California.

Not really. CA has already has a CCW process and provides a process for counties and/or individuals to open carry.

While there may be artificial limitations placed on those processes and licenses, they still exist.

At the time of the Lubys shooting in Texas, no such thing existed for the average Texan. Even then, we still are restricted by 30.06, 30.07, and TABC.

In this particular incident, with current Texas laws the location would appear to be a 51% location, preventing someone from carrying, anyways.

    Have I misunderstood your thought?

CA has CCW, it also doesn’t issue then without you suing or bribing the sheriff. Wait sorry, not bribing, donating to their campaign funds. It’s not “shall issues, it’s may issues” as in maybe I will maybe I won’t.

It is horrible what happened but also this one is on the state for not processing him. He was a 5150 for sure, but the jails are over crowded out there and the mental health facilities are even worse.

    CNN:

Authorities have identified a Facebook post believed to have been made by the shooter around the time of the attack, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the ongoing investigation.
In it, the writer says: "I hope people call me insane... (laughing emojis).. wouldn't that just be a big ball of irony? Yeah.. I'm insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is 'hopes and prayers'.. or 'keep you in my thoughts'... every time... and wonder why these keep happening..."

Sounds to me, in my personal and utterly irrelevant opinion, like wanted to promote gun control?

I'm almost certain it WAS in this article, but did anyone read that one of the patrons was surprised that it only took him about 6 seconds to reload? It's gone now, but I believe it was the guy who said it was like he knew what he was doing, near the end of the article. Seems a marine, a machine gunner at that, could reload a glock a hell of a lot faster than that. Maybe in the heat of the moment it seemed that long. It's just odd that it's been removed.
