You might could buy a new one on Amazon cheaper than you think
Then take that one out and shoot it with a 44 mag

The fob isn't expensive, but programming costs too.

Yep, mine cratered earlier, checked into buying one on Amazon and having it programmed by the dealer was well over $200 at the time.

As luck would have it, the part was still under warranty despite the fact I bought the truck used, but within the 3 year basic warranty.

Well worth a call to the dealer to see if it's under warranty ... damned sight cheaper.

    Not necessarily
Some are easy and dont require a dealership
My wifes 2012 GM was a breeze
If you have one good fob already, it was a simple procedure, took 3 minutes

most cars you can program yourself the older the car the more likely you can DIY just put year and model and program key in youtube and be amazed.

I know with Toyota its like lock and unlock doors 5 times then hit gas then brake the locks again. all in under 1 minute.

On his dodge the end of the fob is the key also and has to be programmed at the dealer.

    That sucks..
In my wifes GM the key comes out of the FOB like a switchblade
The dealer cuts the key for like $12
But you can program it to the car by yourself for free

The Dodge I drove for a while had the door key inside the rounded end of the fob, but the square end went into the ignition as the key and had to be programmed.

I would be looking more towards your drivers door switch panel. It sounds like your lock/unlock switch may be shorting out. Usually easy to swap.

Easy buddy. You were supposed to give a smart aleck answer about the truck brand or something. None of that useful, helpful stuff around here. ;)

Oh, and I vote for a Ram 2500 Mega Cab as the replacement.
