Interesting side effect, would make unlawful carrying of clubs by ltc holders

Good eyes! A minor but perhaps not inconsequential issue. I haven't had the chance to talk to the bill's author (Stickland) but from what I hear of him, I'm guessing he would be open to finding a solution.

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath for this to pass and announce anyone who wants to can carry concealed. Too many police will be against it.

What section are you referring to? The text I see about clubs is existing Penal Code Section 46.02. The words crossed out or underlined are the proposed changes to the law in HB357.

Currently PC 46.02 doesn't apply to LTC holders carrying handguns
    Oh, interesting.

Oh, I see. Which part of this bill changes that?

The bill eliminates the 46.02 non applicability for LTC holders from 46.15. Easy fix would be to leave 46.15 (b) (6) the way it is.

Before you start to carry one keep in mind cops are not up on laws and if you have one there is a good chance you will take the ride and eventually get out of it might be free might cost 10K in attorney fees.

If you want to risk it then you also have to have your gun on you when you carry the batton.

Yeah, good catch. Is it presently 'legal' to carry a collapsible baton?

Parts of bills that don't add up like that will hopefully be dealt with in committee. I know the author's intent in the past was to make LTCs voluntary, but not cause any difficulty for those who hold them.

    Pure BS.
That's just asking for law suits. How can a cop do his job if he doesn't know what he can and can't do legally. But you are probably right, that's why I don't trust cops or the government that employs dumb people.

I bet you could not find more than a handful of cops that know every code subcode ect ect.

No way any non gun enthusiast would have a clue about it being ok to carry a baton with your gun and permit unless some judge has reamed them out for it in the past.

its not the cops job to find you guilty or innocent. For most know the law that says its not legal to have one so you get a ride and let the courts sort it out.

So what was the reason for the stop / arrest if he doesn't know if you did something illegal or not. Yes, every cop makes a judgement of guilty or innocent with every stop or he's making an illegal stop, right!

I don't think that will carry as much weight as all the police chiefs and blue county sheriff's who'll be against it.
The LEO's I know Don't fear people with guns for two reasons: Cops are better trained and criminals will conceal carry with out regard to the law.

    I don't know any chiefs.
