YG, when you take off with the paratroopers , do you have to trim the plane out a bit until you drop or does it even make a difference you can feel?

VERY nice idea. Keep it on the CG. Most drones weigh something unless its like one of the AirHog Mini's.

Make your own release. Tie the drone down with something like monofiliment, loop with a pull pin hooked to a mini servo.

    No changes needed.

The heaviest thing I’ve hauled up were too small water balloons and even then the plane didn’t care much until I tried doing a loop and the weight pulled the bomb door open, balloons came out and smacked the elevator which had to be replaced, lol.

The long tail moment makes the Apprentice pretty forgiving of CG changes.

Kadet Sr. Cant even feel it. Ill bet that paratrooper barely weighs an ounce

Is your Senior ICbor electric? Wanting to get the Cub done so I can start on mine, was going to go IC but leaning more and more towards electric for ease of use.

Should work fine if you follow Dad_Romans advice.

I’ve seen a lot of simple release mechanisms that use nothing more than a rubber band hooked over the arms of a small servo.

I build a bomb bay using an empty plastic bullet box. Not sure there is room for something like that on a drone.

Ahhh...an Apprentice. Nice plane for sure. Nice paint because you fooled me with the pic in size and model both. I pegged it as a Kadet Sr.

I USED to have a Sr......Learned Im more of a Telemaster buff.

Been doing the leccy stuff for the last few years. Its miles ahead on being easier to deal with than IC. Dont get me wrong, done IC for 40 years and love my 4-strokes but there is no denying the ease of throwin a leccy switch and taking off.

Finally tackled the windshield on the Cub. Was bad enough with the first one being roughly cut to shape. Going from scratch has been a nightmare for me.

Started with a piece of poster board and got it roughly cut to shape. Traced it on to a sheet of heavy paper slightly oversized and fine tuned it, the. Taped it down to a sheet of .015 Lexan for the final cut. Fits pretty good. Not perfect, but I would screw it up if I tried to get it any better.

Put the cowl and wings back on with the windshield pinned in place for a motivational preview.

Windshields are tough. Just did one on a Cessna kit. Second hand kit and for some reason he didnt have the glass.

I was having trouble finding materiel for it. Ended up going to Hobby Lobby.

Still have one broken window to replace, but it will be easy. Could probably have the plane flying again in a couple days if I stayed on it but gonna stretch it out for a couple more weeks I think. Mostly painting, covering, and gluing hinges.

    Yep, good plan. Never rush.

    RC flying lesson (passed down)...

When your sittin on the runway getting ready to advance the throttle and take off, ask yourself, "Would I be willing to sit in that and take off?"

If the answer is no then pull back in and fix it.

Younggun, I built a Carl Goldberg model of a J3 Cub roughly 30 years ago that’s the spitting image of your plane. It flew like a champ despite some misaligned tail feathers from parts that shifted while the glue was curing.

I’m gonna finish recovering and attaching the windscreen one of these days and get mine back in the air.
