Interesting that you can apparently justify killing a dog attacking your dog, but not yourself or another person?

"According to Section 822.013 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, “a dog or coyote that is attacking, is about to attack, or has recently attacked livestock, domestic animals, or fowls may be killed by any person witnessing the attack, or the attacked animal’s owner or a person acting on behalf of the owner if the owner or person has knowledge of the attack.”

I think you can justify killing a dog attacking yourself or another person, it’s just not black and white and it’s up to the jury.

I had a situation a few weeks ago. My wife and I were walking around the neighborhood. A neighbor’s very large german shepherd bolted from their front door towards us. He was barking, growling and acting very aggressive. I had my weapon on me. However, I elected not to use it and to get between my wife and the dog and stood my ground. As soon as the dog reached me and realized I wasn’t going to run or act aggressive, he was fine and I helped the owner retrieve him.

A guy I know showed me pics of a bobcat jumping his 6' privacy fence, then eating his dogs food on his patio. He lives in Plano.

I saw that on the news this afternoon. The girls being attacked were rescued by a passing motorist who drove up and honked at the coyote until the girls could get in his vehicle.

Oh well. I guess it's better than sitting across the street and just filming it with the cellphone.

Are we sure it wasnt a pet Coyote looking for a snack? I had a neighbor kid at Graham who had one. It acted sorta funny.

Yeah, I saw that on the news this evening. Couple girls out jogging. Said the motorist took them to the hospital with “puncture wounds”. They showed a picture - didn’t look too bad - but certainly broke the skin. Wouldn’t normal medical protocol be to start rabies shots? (And isn’t that a painful 26-weeks series of shots?)

ETA: I just Googled it; says three shots now - first two separated by a week and then final one, by three weeks.

    Yeah.... damn thing needs killin’.

This recent attack occurred at Eldorado and Preston Rd. Right in the middle of the attacks. The Brinkman Ranch borders on two of the four corners of that insection. So lots of open land for coyotes to travel. Panther Creek is also in that area.

So basically the same general location as the November 11th attack (see post #1). Humm... chalk two up for that area.
