    Friends,

IF you have less $$$$$ than time, GT Distributors in Austin has several 5-shot Remington 870 pump riot-guns for sale at attractive prices.
(NO, I do NOT work for GT. - I'm just a customer but thought some of our members might be interested & want an easy Winter project. - This comment is just "information".)

All of the ones that I looked at need to be disassembled, re-lubricated, have the metal ports cleaned up and the stock/forearm stripped & refinished. - I would be able to do the necessary cleaning, relubrication & refinishing of the wood in 2-3 hours or less, while consuming several cups of coffee.
(At least the three of the six riot-guns that I examined show little or no wear on the inner surfaces & have nice grain patterns under the "dings", scratches, scrapes & "cruddy" remaining varnish. One riot gun has black "plastic furniture". - Once refinished the stocks would look much better than the stocks that most new shotguns have in 2018)

The prices range from 199-209.oo each.

    yours, satx

    robertc1024; TreyG-20,

Since I seldom get to Austin from SA, I usually have a "GT shopping list" (like finding another Remington Model 7615P, since Darla "adopted" mine that I had looked for for > 2 years.)but this go-round I found ZILCH that I wanted bad enough to "bust the budget".
My passions/things on my "want list" are Remington pump-rifles in the "oddball calibers", as I have all of the common chamberings
    (I'm looking for a .257 Roberts.)
AND pre-WWII Colt's revolvers. = NOT easy to find as a general rule, though I recently "stumbled over" an "as new"/possibly unfired Colt's Police Positive Special in .38SPL from 1909 in a North SATX estate sale.
(Nobody else wanted it, at almost any price, because the pre-WWI Colt revolvers are NOT heat-treated & are therefore NOT safe to fire with much of the modern factory .38SPL ammo. - Fwiw, such revolvers, if they are in good shape, are generally OK with mi-range 148 grain wadcutters.)

I'm having a shadow box made to display it & my adult daughter, who is my executrix, has been warned to NOT ever shoot it with modern/high-velocity ammo.

Target wadcutters are about all I ever shoot from .38s so if I had found that, I'd be shooting it as much as I could.

I am so jealous. Congratulations, Mr. Lucky.

    benenglish,

YEP. That was one day that I tripped & fell into a mud-puddle & found a TREASURE for certain.
(It will remain NEW/UNFIRED as long as I'm around, as I have plenty of other shooting handguns.)

    DBTX,

100% CORRECT. = Fwiw, I talked to a forum member from Buda yesterday PM who bought one, stripped/sanded the stock, refinished the wood with CHERRY Min-Wax, cleaned/re-lubed the metal parts & FINISHED his "project" in about 2 hours. = LOOKS FINE, imo & a GREAT shotgun for about 210.ooUSD total.

    To All,

Fwiw, I for an email from a "Travis County member/friend" about an hour ago that said that a FEW more of the 870 riot-guns have been "put out for sale" at GT. = Like 5-6 more of them.
(He said that these few are NICER than the ones that were "out" when I was last there but still need a general cleaning & the stock refinished to look NICE.)

    To All,

Out of curiosity, have any of our members (here) bought/refinished one of these 870 Police Magnums??

I'd like to see what it looked like refinished. - I suspect: NICE.

    ZX9RCAM,

I've seen a photo that was made by cellphone & sent to my cellphone. - NOT the best quality photo but quite handsome, anyway.

MERRY CHRISTMAS from both of us to you & your family.
