Nice. Had a chance to test one in Ludicrous mode through the coastal mountains of California. For such a heavy sedan.. that can accelerates like a bat out of hell and handles far better than it has any right to! I didn't get a chance to try out the autopilot though.

I went down a rabbit hole of watching those videos one night, funny watching the reactions of other drivers who didn’t know what was in store for them.
Have you seen the semi videos?
    Those are impressive.

    I haven’t but I’ll look them up.

Slightly off topic but kinda similar. For several years I’ve been saying Toyota needs to build a Prerunner Tacoma with a Prius drivetrain. 2wd with some height and the ability to get stuff from Lowe’s. I think it would sell like crazy. Not a truck to haul heavy equipment but run around town with the occasional small load.

Tesla auto pilot will kill you.

The silence of these 'vehicles' will kill the unsuspecting crossing the road to get to the other side and a whole buncha critters......

If you aren't looking both ways when crossing a road you deserve to get hit. Animals, well they have been suiciding long before vehicles without a conventional combustion engine.

One of the coolest semi's I ever saw, was one that worked more like a locomotive. It had a gas-turbine engine that powered a massive battery pack that then drove huge electric motors. The turbine was for long haul stuff, and the battery-only worked great for in town. The turbine never drove anything directly beyond the generator. Saw it at an automotive warehouse/condo complex called Club Autosport.

I think this is the company that showed us the demo truck.:

Thought it was interesting.. and it of course sounds awesome with the turbine screaming away.. :D

That's interesting. At first glance, they look to be out of business. The web site is still there but they haven't issued a press release since November of 2016. Dig a little further and you find that they have presented at industry conferences this year and are still working two contracts, one for city buses in New Zealand and another for garbage trucks.

It's odd that a cutting-edge tech company would pay so little attention to their own web site but maybe they've just got their head down in the work.

Thanks for leading me down that rabbit hole. I didn't realize how many companies out there are building electric heavy trucks of so many sorts.

Yep. Subsidized piece of junk. The self driving part will never work.

They’re been making that “autopilot” garbage for trains. It works decently well but not only will it replace jobs, you’d have a program running all the trains. An ethanol bomb run through your city next to your children’s school, a 44 million pound rock train going down hill towards your house or a train made up of chlorine and anhydrous ammonia passing through downtown cities. Thanks technology...
