That's Luna - she's a rescue dog I found in Mississippi about 5 years ago. They said she was 1 year old and came with the name. Saw another Luna upthread - figured the previous owners might have been Harry Potter fans or something. She's a great dog but though she's got a lot of lab in her, she doesn't retrieve and only goes in the water if she can see the bottom lol.

Wasn't sure how she would transition from having the run of the country to being cooped up in my apartment all day here... but she's been great - we do go on 1/2 mile walks every morning and evening but still, I'm amazed she's handled the change-up so well.

Shes a great dog. She gets up to 26 mph when I run her next to my 4 wheeler. I wont ever own another breed

My grandparents raised them when I was a kid. The big one used to carry bricks around in her mouth when she didn't have puppies. No one dared to come in their yard.

My dad raised German Shorthairs. We had this big male, Rosco, that was a hunting fool. He'd get so wound up about hunting that we had to let him out of the kennel about two miles away from where we were going to hunt and let him pace the truck at 30 mph so we could take the edge off of him. Then he would get the nervous shits while we were gearing up. That dog could hunt all day in the Eastern Washington weather. Pheasants and quail.

We learned really early on that his kennel had to be in the back of the truck going home. Farts from a tired dog STINK. One time, and only one time we had his kennel in the back of a Suburban. Damn near killed us.

Glad his Mama dont read this stuff. She would be incensed that a person couldnt tell dear Bowzer from a freshly slain rat. Keeping Austin weird is a worthy goal. lol.
LOL. I wondered because the squirrel was front and center and I couldn't see that much of the dog in the photo.

We have had a breakthrough with these two getting along. They used to not like to be within 5 feet of each other unless food was involved. Now they casually get on the bed together. I found the cat cuddling with the dog in the dogs crate on an electric blanket today too. I can’t begin to describe how lucky I am to have these two.

Side note: we had a scare last night with our dog Sam. My girlfriend works as a supervisor at a dog kennel. She was setting up meds for the dogs that need them that are boarding. Some with painkillers, some with allergy meds, some with joint meds... you get the idea. Well my girlfriend turned to walk to start administering meds to each dog. She tripped over our lab mix who is always at her side and dropped the med tray. His inner lab kicked in and he ate all the pill pockets that were on the floor. We made him throw up by giving him hydrogen peroxide, an old remedy that doesn’t harm the dog, and he expunged all the medication. He’s good now. But it was really scary for a bit there.
