So, Trump in fact did not open it at all as you stated earlier. I suppose you can state that he didn't close it, but stating that he in fact opened it was untrue according to what you are saying now.
He opened the door to circumventing Congress on budget allocation. That's new.

I would imagine Congress will pass a new law about that within five years

The Swamp won. Immigration is lost. Reality is we have been losing for over 30 years, but the coffin is really getting nailed shut now. The caravans are going to keep coming, and the bill Trump signed gives them even more protections than ever, while making it harder than ever to build a wall.

The reality is, the Republicans WANT illegal immigration as much as the Democrats. They had 2 years to send Trump a immigration bill and they did not. Anyone who voted FOR the bill is the problem.

Refreshing that we finally have a president who recognizes what a problem we have on the southern border and wants to do something about it. But in trying to do so, it's also easy to recognize those who are against doing anything.

If nothing else, this has exposed the do-nothing RINOs like Ryan, Boehner, Bush(es), etc.

“There is no border national emergency.
Most Americans agree with that. I agree with them.”

The problem is most Americans sit in their cozy home......maybe watch some TV and depend on the media for information on the subject. If you actually saw how porous the border is and see how many cross daily you would think differently......and they’re not all just poor harmless immigrants in search of more opportunity. Ignorance truly is bliss.

Something people are missing is executive action to enforce existing law is different than executive action to take away/remove rights from citizens. So executive action to stop illegal......remember the term illegal.....entry into the US or any other illegal activity is FAR different than executive action stopping some other LEGAL activity or right like, say, owning, possessing, or carrying firearms.

Wild that some are comparing the two on a forum such as this.

Mmm...yeah...I see national healthcare in our future under the same clause.

Separation if powers, it was nice knowing you.

Congress has the power to end any national emergency declared by the president. That is how the authority is balanced.

The courts really shouldn’t be involved for any reason at this point. The president is within his authority to declare the emergency and congress has the authority to declare his declaration null and void.

How is this a failure of separation of powers if congress can override the presidents declaration of a national emergency?

If one unauthorized person came into your house would that be a security problem? If there was just a threat of many hundreds of people wanting to enter the United States illegally, is that a security concern? There is no doubt that millions of people have entered this country illegally and Trump isn't the first to address this. At what point does it to go from talking about a problem to action? In declaring a national emergency it doesn't have to address the volume of that emergency, it only has to show that there is a concern to what is covered in the NEA.

Please cite where he can use extra constitutional means to do so.

    Article 4 - The States
    Section 4 - Republican Government

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

It is constitutional act, for a President, to enact a national emergency to protect our borders. It is a constitutional RIGHT for the US, to deny ANYONE from entering our country. What is unconstitutional, is declaring a national emergency on a lie (global warming) or denying us from a constitutional right (RKABA).

If they fight the NE on grounds that it’s unconstitutional it will be a losing fight outside of a few circus courts. It is most definitely constitutional and there is a safeguard via congressional joint resolution.

I argued against this exact course of action not long ago based on many points ZW is making. Then I did a little research to learn how the system works and realized that I was incorrect. It’s ok to be wrong sometimes and ZW can learn how it works too. I won’t fault him for not knowing. I’m sure now that he realizes it’s not unconstitutional or unchecked he will calm down.

He may still disagree, but I’m sure he will be reasonable about the constitutionality of it and stop with the “Pandora’s Box” claims.

    Craft beer maybe.
But he's still a few points shy of coffee.

    Like hell!

    I'm into craft coffee too.
    Check this:
    https://www.sweetmarias.com/green-coffee.html

    Sweet Maria's coffees in Oakland.

    They sell "green beans".
    Un-roasted coffee.

A basic roaster is about the cost of 2 boxes of factory loads of 375 H&H and will last you a lot longer.

    Bestest part:
Great green unroasted beans are $7-8 bucks a pound.
Half the price of the so-so Starbucks stuff.

Craft beer? Not under my roof presently.
Right now got 15 lbs of Costco honey fermenting to mead.
14.4% alcohol at last check. Time to bottle. I needs long months of aging.
Mighty proud of my little yeast compadres right now!!!
