I researched all of this, and went with stoning my hammer. Made it easily as good as a BX. If I f'd it up, replacement hammer is cheap. My 2 cents.

I did the same on my 10/22. I think Vaquero has it now though. I remember it being pretty good though.

Vmax, give the magpul hunter x stock a try if you haven’t already. I like how it supports the receiver and uses a reversible tray to swap between bull barrels and regular barrels.

I've learned my lesson as well. The only 10/22s I am putting money into are the takedowns as they are their own thing. Backpacker stock, bull barrel, bx trigger group and UTG Bugbuster scope. It's done. For a fixed rifle, you can start with something closer to your end result for a bit less.

I used a Timney trigger group in two 10/22’s. It has the advantage of a lever mag release. Like the BX it only requires removing 2 pins to install.
Here is a link, but I paid about half as much as Brownells price.

Nice. I actually ordered one of the Kidd lever releases but after installing it and trying it out, I discovered that I hated it. I do like the Kidd extended mag release, and bolt release. But I'm good with the BX trigger units I've installed in three 10/22s.

What didn't you like about the Kidd lever release? I have a Volquartsen and I think it's great.

Love my backpacker stock. Haven't decided what else to do yet.

I wasted a bunch of ammo today after I installed the new BX25 trigger that came in this mornings mail

Really good trigger compared to OEM

I also took my FAT wrench and experimented with various torque settings on the takedown screw

Conditions were 12 mph diagonal winds left to right ,
    Distance 30 yards
The best groups were at 30 IP of torque
The CCI Mini Mags and the Brownings gave the best groups
I also made a scope windage adjustment, that that is why the POI shifted to the left
