What are the magic words? (not that I want a job, just curious)Keyword is "ATS", applicant tracking software. If you don't have the right keywords on your resume, no human eyes will ever see your application.

I had 3 significant jobs in my career (1970 to 2005), and all of them started with my sending my resume in response to ads in the WSJ. But that was a long time ago now.

**** if I know them. I never had actual success with sending a resume to an open job posting, ever. Can't think of any job I got by that method.
Read the job posting. Look at the preferred requirements. Tailor your resume to the job posting, especially the preferreds. If it asks for 4-6 years experience, don’t put 15 years experience.
There’s a nifty site call Jobscan that will allow you to copy/paste an ad an the resume you want to submit and give you a good idea of ATS success.

Along the same lines, each resume you submit should be tailored to that job. So if you apply for 5 jobs, you should have 5 distinct resumes.
Coffee is your friend. I dunno, my current job came from a recruiter And I love this job. He was perky but I would think if I offered him a very relaxed attitude, he would have found someone else. He is now gone but I am still here.Dealing with those damn recruiters! Either it's 20 year old chipmunk girls hyped up on speed, everything is awesome, yay, wheeeeee, LOLLERS, teehee!!!! Sorry, sweetie, could you dial down the chipperness some? You're at 11. I need you at about a 3 the most. or mush-mouthed Indians from out of state who have no idea what an employer is looking for or what anything on my resume means. Oh and you can't understand a damn word they're saying. Ihaveamamababbababballabityinnaplanno? What? I have literally no idea what you're saying, buddy!

No I got it. That is why I said my current job came from a recruiter. Pretty sure recruiters get job reviews too.Not sure you understood my post other than that I was talking about recruiters.
