Apparently, Fox asked Bernie why he didn't write a check to Uncle Sam to cover the high tax rate that Bernie proposes everyone pay. Bernie replied "Pfft, come on. I paid the taxes that I owe,"

He thinks everyone but HIM should pay higher taxes.

I think he did like annoying would do and paid the taxes required.

As much as Bernie is a goofball, there is nothing extraordinarily hypocritical about that answer.

He’s also told leftist who criticize him for his wealth to write a best selling book and they can be wealthy too.

Don’t like him. Don’t support him. But I can find plenty of criticisms without reaching for sound bites of him admitting he won’t pay taxes that he isn’t required to pay.

Have to disagree. All these liberals talk about how it is morally wrong for people (particularly the rich, which includes almost all the liberal mouthpieces) not to pay "their fair share" of taxes. They say it is evil for those with money not to pay more.

If this was just talk about "policy", I would agree with you. But when they talk about it being morally wrong not to pay high taxes, then they should be writing checks. After all, they should be doing things that are morally right.

    That's a full-on facepalm reply, YG.

Valid question from Fox, and even more valid to question Bernie given the "what's good for me is not for thee" position taken by the now second favorite "Democratic Socialist." Even the comment about becoming wealthy via capitalism raises a completely sensible question about his adherence to the bull he preaches.

I believe it’s a little more nuanced than that, but don’t think it’s worth the debate. And I don’t want to get in to a position where I feel like I’m on the edge of defending the economic positions of Bernie Sanders

Edit: Got ninja’d, but reply works for both.

... to add, many of these types of politicians (not necessary just the n Socialists) will try to push through all sorts of legislation that would serve to lower their net worth if enacted. But they're perfectly cool with reaping the benefits of their drivel in the mean time, and will certainly work to pen exemptions for themselves in the legislation prior to the vote.

Let me clear that up for you. "I can't figure out how to crawfish out of a really stupid post." :)

    No, not even close.

Read my post again. I said “extraordinarily hypocritical”. I chose my words for a reason. All humans are hypocritical to some degree regardless of whether they admit it or not. Whatever hypocrisy is present in Sanders’ statement is not beyond the norm of human nature.

His major beef with the wealthy tend to fall along the lines of corporate wealth, the whole “getting rich off the labor of others” bs. He wrote the book so it doesn’t fit that box.

Nothing “really stupid” about my post. I just set aside my dislike for the guy when judging his statement.

I’m ok with you not being ok with that :)

You said "As much as Bernie is a goofball, there is nothing extraordinarily hypocritical about that answer."

That's what you said, verbatim. There absolutely IS something extraordinarily hypocritical about Sanders advocating, suggesting, and lobbying for something he quite obviously does not agree with doing himself. When asked if he followed his Socialist ideals by proactively 'redistributing' his capital gains, he summarily rebuffed the interviewer. Pretty much the definition of hypocritical. Seems pretty clear he believes Socialism is for the masses, not those in political power. Par for the course, if history has taught us anything at all about Socialism.

This is why it’s not worth the debate.

You aren’t going to see the point I’m trying to make, or you see it but disagree. And I see the point you are making but feel it falls well within the bounds of typical human hypocrisy and isn’t newsworthy. Definitely not worth my outrage.

Best just to agree to disagree. Not even mad you said my post was stupid :)

Thank you for correctly quoting my post.

How do you get on the edge of defending Bernie Sanders economic positions? The last great experiment Venezuela they can't keep the lights on and people are eating out of dumpsters. Bernie has no plan to pay 30 trillion plus for medicare plan for everybody. California sh*tcanned their health care for all when they saw the bill. Now that idiot is Buttgiggler or whatever his name is is saying that Capitalism isn't working.

Wow. That's a big ol' can of WTF. Maybe I am getting old, because in my world when you talk the talk, you better walk the walk. Is it safe to say you're cool with talking out of both sides of your mouth being not only "typical human" behavior but is also somehow acceptable?

Look I get it that we're used to politicians paying us plenty of lip service, but when they do they're most certainly fair game to be called to the mat for it. We are (allegedly) entrusting these elected officials with certain (allegedly) important responsibilities, after all. You giving the Bernster a pass because it's "typical human hypocrisy and isn't newsworthy" is rather curious.
