Hopefully this one will be DOA.

In all likelihood, this bill isn't going anywhere. It was filed by a newcomer to the legislature and is far enough along on Crazy Street that even a left leaning committee chair like Panic Button Poncho realizes it has no chance of passage into law. So far it hasn't even been scheduled for a hearing.

It's only function for the left is to capture our attention and outrage so our energies are expended on silliness like this instead of focusing on the many other bills which threaten our rights.

Suicides happen cause people want to kill themselves. What happens when they pass a background check and kill them selves

Before there were ranges everywhere people did the same thing at the gun counter of at least as many stores. Walk up grab a round off the shelf or bring it with them and bang.

Hell one guy was in such a hurry he didnt even make it to the gun counter. He picked up a skill saw in the jewel box pawn shop in Phoenix and proceeded to attempt to decapitate himself.

You cant legislate personal responsibility. People do what they want regardless of useless laws and I'm tired of being the one bent over in a vein attempt by lawmakers acting like they do shit.

I'm referring to the fact that since I have had my CHL, I have not had to go through it.

I reckon that you are just joking, though....

Do not be surprised that you are run through the background check process after you leave. Many shops get your phone number so that if when it is run later they can contact you if there is a problem these days.

I would just like to hear him stumble thru how it would stop people who were suicidal from renting guns? Like gun laws that wouldnt have stopped any shootings they are in response to.

Maybe pass a law requiring the evil or suicidal to report their intentions to the FBI so they can be flagged if they want to buy a gun or 500 lbs of fertilizer and a few gallons of diesel fuel. Well all be saved then.

That's kinda like closing the barn door after the horses got out. Could they actually make you bring it back?

the originator of this bill probably thinks "gun rental" is like "car rental" , you rent it and out the door you go, just be sure to return it full.

That actually makes sense, well sort of, wrt as to what the motivation might be here.

The motivation has nothing to do with anything other than making it more difficult to gain access to a firearm.

Don’t think there has to be logic behind it. If there were a smidge of actual thought put into it, one would expect the excuse would be to prevent the possession if a firearm by a prohibited person, known to the system.

Yep the feds have been there and done that. More than once.

That said I wonder about the legality of running background checks after you have the weapon and used ccw to satisfy the requirements. There are rules for accessing the system. It's been 20 years but when I had access to the national system there were strict rules for running someone not a part of an investigation you were conducting.

Maybe a psychic reader at the rental counter.
