okay here’s the conundrum. I have two cheaper AR’s one is an AR-15 from DPMS that I bought as a 20” Gun with carry handle because it reminds me of the one I carried in the Air Force. That one stays as is. That’s my memory rifle.

Then I built a 16” M4 clone with BCM parts and a Palmetto State upper. It has a bushnell cheaply red dot. This rifle is going to my brother. He’s a newbie and also cheap, so it’s perfect for him. He won’t put 5000 rounds through it in a life time.
Now I decided to build a quality M4 carbine. So I bought the BCM upper with the front sight post of course and I’m going to get the BCM lower. I want this to be my training rifle and put lots of rounds through. I want to put a red dot on it. But I don’t want junk. So I thought MRO. Then I thought Aimpoint PRO. Then the cheapie in me started thinking Sig Sauer Romeo 5x. Help!!!!! I want this to be a tough rugged AR that I use the crap out of and I don’t want to make a crappy decision. I was thinking Eotech but I really want long battery life so I never have to turn it off.

    Suggestion?

Part of my conundrum is I don’t want any more AR’s. I’m minimizing my guns to a few that I will use. So this AR needs to be right. Okay I’m listening.

You can find great deals on the Aimpoint Pros every now and then. I think the last one I got from Academy during one of their crazy -33% off web deals.

    Aimpoint PRO is good option.

My FFL got a rifle on trade in and it had an Aimpoint T1 on it. He sold it to me for a steal. I did a lot of research before buying used as there are counterfeits but sent pictures to Aimpoint and they agreed it looked legit. Might want to call LGS and see if they have anything like that.

There’s also EOTECH and Trijicon ACOGs as well. I recently bought a Trijicon ACOG RCO and it’s a great sight. Though not a red dot it does have tritium.

Trijicon MRO is outstanding. Cheaper & lighter than the Aimpoint PRO, which is also an excellent red dot.

Get the MRO. You can get them on ebay and other sites for low $300s

I have an aimpoint H2 on an mcx and a romeo 4a on an mpx which is probably very similar to the romeo 5. On a normal range day there is very little difference looking through them both. The H2 has a slightly brighter and warmer image. Looking at the two side by side the fit and finish is better on the H2 and it looks sturdier but I am not sure it's $500 better.
