Also, I'll say this about security. The strength and complexity of your password does NOT matter. It WILL be compromised at some point. The best you can hope for is that your financial institutions and anything important uses Two Factor Authentication. I use the same password here as I do for anything unimportant. If It's important it uses a separate password that changes every 6 months and if it doesn't have 2FA I don't use them if it involves financial or super personal information. Your password is only as strong as the database security it sits in.

So if they’re was an actual data breach on TGT wouldn’t we receive an email from TGT informing us this breach has actually happened?

LOL if they knew about it, which they probably didn't.

I changed my password just to be safe but overall I’m not worried about any of this.

I simply put all my 'username/passwords' on a USB memory stick in .txt files and keep it in a drawer in my desk. They are all different for all the sites I use.

I just copy/paste the info when the site asks for login.

Most folks just put all their pw's on a post it note stuck to the monitor.

    No...
But I will likely shoot you if you break into my house and steal my USB stick.

It stays in my desk drawer!!!!!!!!!

Sure, but you won't be successfully shooting everyone that might be in your home. Even if you believe you have nothing to hide, I guarantee you don't want some pencil dick government employee going through all of your accounts. Also never know when you've misplaced trust in a guest.

That site shows my email one time in 2013 through adobe. Nothing about this place or any other forum.

That site shows me with 12 breaches. I don't care. I would never bank online. My bank and CC statements are exclusively paper. I pay my CC bills by phone. Anyone who hacks my email gets stuff to embarrass me but they won't make any money off of it.

I do, however, find it fascinating to read over how my data was supposedly compromised.

Mine shows numerous breeches over the years from sites like TGT, my fitness pal... I do use unique “throw away” passwords for sites of low value. My financial or other more serious online accounts are far more complex and completely unrelated to those I consider throw aways. Guess I should have used a disposable email address as well.

The USA should make hacking a capital crime and allow for bounties to be collected based on scalps collected.

Out of the many email accounts I have, surprisingly found only 2 that came up as "pwned". One is pretty old and is one of the oldest addresses I still have in use. The other isn't that much newer then the first.
Both have been used on TGT at some time, though not currently and both were used extensively over the years as they were both at one time my main address I was using for a period of time.

Neither come up as breeched from this or any gun/gun related website or forum.

I treat forums and other innocuous online things differently than I do financial sites. For those I follow my companies lead and use two step authentication, I change passwords regularly and don't use the same passwords at multiple sites.

Got an email at 3am today, someone cleaned out my rewards points on a credit card account. 2nd time too. The funny part is the first time it happened, they had me set a verbal account level password that would be "required" to do any transactions over the phone.

    Yeah, not so much.

The password I used was unique, never used for anything else in the past, and known only to me. Didn't even tell the wife (and she got mad at me for it too).

They instantly credit the amount back, but it's clearly an inside job - they are allowing someone access without the proper credentials or possibly even providing them to the fraudster. There's no logs of the transaction other than it originated "via phone" and was direct deposited to a BofA account (where I've never had an account). Not surprising, since EVERYONE I spoke with to get it resolved was in India.
