    Sucks to be that guy.
Why, there is a chance he is a no pay who has been putting this off because he has no insurance, and went to the ER and our resident nice oral surgeon got to operate on him instead of enjoying the day off and it’s highly likely he wont even get paid for it.
Of course, I could be wrong he could have insurance and be an upstanding person with a badly infected face.

How do you turn a $300 extraction into a $2000 surgery? Wait for it...

    Gunz are icky.
    This is interestng.
Why do you drain the abcess from the neck and not inside the mouth outside the jaw?
Can the abcess pocket not be accessed from inside the mouth?
Why would a patient wait so long to seek medical care? That had to painful as all get out.
    That didn’t happen overnight?
What caused the abcess? Some debris jammed down into the tooth socket?

I drain it from the neck because I want gravity to help me. If I cut it from below, in the neck, gravity helps drain it over the next few days. From inside the mouth the pus has to come out then out & it's more likely to get infected again.

Also, sometimes you get into bleeding from the facial or submandibular vessels. Trying to tie off a neck vessel from inside the mouth is a little bit tricky, like making a 1911 reliable.

That developed over about 10 days. The patient had the bad tooth removed in another town & may have already been starting an abscess. The dentist did give antibiotics after the extraction but they didn't stop this abscess from forming. Since I wasn't involved I'm not sure where the failure was.

Money & social issues are the major reasons people delay treatment. I'm trying to keep prices reasonable but if you don't have a ride it's hard to see me.

When I was a teen I worked for a guy that did cattle work. We worked herds, and would saddle up and throw em down in the pasture sometimes.

I've done work on some nasty stuff with critters. Puss shooting all over the place, draining abscesses, stuffing the womb back into a cow, castrating, dehorning, you name it. And it never bothered me a bit. Never felt quesy.

But stuff in humans does bother me. Weird.

My wife and I just gave it a view. I thought it was pretty rough with the initial surge. She was fine with it though.

The only request I would have is on the scans (I am no dr, MRI or ct or whatever they are) could you maybe freeze the shot and highlight the area you are talking about. Some of them made sense. Others, my wife was like "oh, look at that" I was left agreeing with a blank stare. For the record she is trained as a vet tech so the dr stuff makes sense, I am a car guy and need the problem to be clearly identified.

    Thanks again for another video.
