So if you have your LTC and you're carrying, you have to notify an officer during a traffic stop, but do you have to notify them if you aren't a LTC holder and you've got a handgun in the car?

Let's make sure the law is clear. A license holder is required to present his LTC along with the appropriate license anytime a peace officer or magistrate demands that the license holder identify himself, if the license holder is carrying a handgun on or about his person.

Just hand over your LTC, no requirement to state that you are carrying or to give the location.
There is no penalty for failing to display the license, not even administrative. (Well, other than potentially off the cop)

No such requirement exists for non-license holders.

Only been stopped once since I've been carrying, but if anything the LTC made the deputy more at ease. Family of five traveling in East Texas with a gun? Probably doesn't raise any eyebrows anyway though :)

My experience as well. The officer immediately relaxes upon knowing I have a CHL.

OP: if you have a gun in the glovebox and need to reach there to get your insurance copy, definitely a good idea to let the officer know (and ask his permission to reach in the glovebox first). If the officer will never see the gun, then I would not mention it if I were not a CHL holder.

Only gotten pulled over once since I have my LTC. Handed over insurance and both licenses, he asked if I had any weapons on me, I said sure, on my belt, and the rest of the traffic stop went like any other time. I get my ticket, I'm on my way, I click through six hours of stupid videos, I get my ticket dismissed.

Since getting my CHL, I have been let off every time but once.

    Fixed that for you

Right? I forgot what the reason for it was, but the other day I stuffed my gun into the cubby hole under the center arm rest where the insurance card is, and a few minutes later when I saw a cop behind me, the prospective scenario played out in my head. Not gonna do that again. Or I could just drive in a way where I don't get pulled over, ever. Meh, eff that, got places to see and people to go. No time to wait around for slowpokes.

LOL, I fully admit that my English might be out of date at times, but what else would you call this?
