    Out here by the lake!
Reminds me of one of the most retarded things I've seen a so called instructor do.
This guy was an active duty city policeman.
Sitting in a classroom this guy was demonstrating a tactical pump shotgun to the newbies.
He was up at the front blowing and going about how "effective the shotgun was without firing it."
Racking said shotgun and then pointing it at students faces. "Scary isn't it? Scares the bad guy right off!"
    The shotgun WAS empty.
He had left the action open while doing this but still WTFOVER?!?!?!
Shame he didn't have it taking away from him & turned on himself!

Guy shooting his friends colt python. A beautiful gun, even has the original box.

Anyways, guy loads it, amd flicks his wrist to close the cylinder.

Took all the restraint i could muster not to just take the gun away from him

If I remember correctly, just about every SOCOM operator I’ve ever worked with that used a wheel gun has used that method for tactical reloads at some point.

I was an M60 machine gunner in the 82nd Airborne in 1977. We did this for practice as well. It was truly amazing how few times the Styrofoam planes were actually hit vs the rounds fired at them. When you have 50 or so guys with M60's firing at one plane it is truly fantastic. We even had tracers. They weren't even that fast.

    Not the least bit.
Well, SOCOM people aren't running around with revolvers.

And just because someone's a super badass special ops guy, doesnt mean they know a single thing about guns, especially when it's a gun they have never trained with, amd have only seen it used in video games or movies/tv.

You can, and if you do it enough, will damage your revolver.

I can add a few things

Shooting an automatic pistol with your thumb over your wrist

Extremely common, and I've lost count of how many bandaids and "i told you so's" I've handed out. I've had people argue with me about this, AFTER i had just gotten done patching somebody up.

People with either no sights on their rifles, or only on the upper reciever

People buy those "optics ready" AR's and will place the front and rear sight the only place they can, the upper. They then proceed to not hit their target

Sks's with dead red dots. Theres no dot, so clearly you are supposed to use it as an aperture, just center the front sight in the tube and ignore the fact the gun is at a 45° angle!

LVPO's on AR's backwards. Listen, I'm not criticizing you, I'm trying to help.

Shooting mystery bag reloads. This gets people worked up. "No the ammo is fine, its this damn gun". God forbid it's the ammo you bought at a gun show from a guy missing 3 fingers and his right eye...

People introducing new shooters with their glock 33, or other lightweight, extremely punishing handgun

People who wamt to see what their low grade buckshot does at 50 yards (its great at hitting other people's targets)

People who ask to see what gun i have, and immediately talk shit about it. The past couple of guys were shooting hi points and one of those FMK guns. "Nah man, glocks suck ass, my hi point has been flawless out of the box!" They go to shoot and immediately have a FT Feed.

People who think you can build up "hearing resistance" to loud noises by exposure.

People who lie about their guns zero. "Hell yea bruther, this gals zeroed out to 1,000 yards!" Iflts fumny to watch their walk of shame as they go from 200, to 100, then 50, then resort to the 25yd range

People who berate the people they bring to the range. These people are usually some of the worst shots I've seen.

I could go on, and probably will at a later time
Macho does that. On the golf course the worst golfer gives the most lessons.

Please don’t take offense, but that is one of the dumbest fkn things I’ve ever read on this forum, or the web for that matter.

It's not stupid. Its a commonly held veiw that military personnel and cops are somehow "gun experts" simply because a gun is part of their job. Same thing goes for RSO's and the counter jockeys at your LGS.

This isn't a slight on anyone. Nobody is born knowing how to shoot, and since the military hasn't issued revolvers since the Air Force up until the 1980's or so, you really think a guy who has been using nothing but semi autos will just magically know how to properly handle a revolver? Anything they learn about handguns in the military is going to be what they get issued. Which won't be a revolver.

And even if someone actually taught them to do that, that doesn't make it correct, as i can go on and on about instructors I've seen (who had some pretty legit military careers) teach incorrect, or stupid and dangerous things.

Do not fall for the appeal to authority logical fallacy.

I didnt say chair force. And I’ve seen plenty of soldiers that had never held a firearm before basic. But that’s not what I said. I said SOCOM operators.

I’m familiar with the fallacy of authority. And I recognize idiotic statements when I see them. You don’t become a super badass at anything unless you know wtf you’re doing. If you don’t know wtf your doing, it stands to reason you’re not a super badass.

    I rationalize it thusly.....

“ just because someone is a super badass fighter pilot doesn’t mean he knows anything about aircraft.....”

“Just because someone is a super badass race car driver doesn’t mean he knows anything about cars.....”

“Just because he’s a super badass porn Star doesn’t mean he knows anything about sex....”

I’m not the brightest bulb on the block but that sh1r sounds pretty fkn stupid to me.

As far as possibly “breaking” a wheel gun, I see firearms as a tool. Tools break. I wore out and broke so much sh1t on uncle sugars nickel I’ve lost count. And I trust the judgement of my fellow soldiers a hell of a lot more than someone ranting about petty gun range bs.

.... my $.02. No hurt feelings, take it for what you will.

Well, those examples you give are somewhat accurate.

Do you want a race car driver to fix your car, or a mechanic?

Do you want a fighter pilot to fly the 747 your family is flying to spain on, or a guy who has flown them for years?

Do you want that super badass porn star to take a look at why your peter isn't working right?

See what I'm getting at? You don't seem to grasp how huge the world of firearms is. You can know everything about the Beretta M9, and can be lights out with it

That doesn't mean you can just pick up a colt police positive and be just as accurate, and just as fast.

You can be the best AR15 shooter in the world, that doesn't mean you can just grab a guys m1 Garand and know how to work it.

Just because you spent years learning how to do a few things, doesn't mean you'll just learn how to do something you were never taught.

And guns are tools, only a fool treats them like crap and intentionally tries to break them.

There are exceptions, but there is zero reason to slap a cylinder shut on a revolver.

also, you are right, you don't become a super badass by not knowing what the f you are doing.

Thats why the first thing you have to do to become a member of the US military special forces is to load and shoot a revolver

This also explains how these guys in action movies and video games are amazingly competent with whatever firearm they pick up. They are badasses after all, so of course they know wtf they're doing.

You claim to know what an appeal to authority is, but you don't seem to know it enough to realize that you are using that fallacy to argue your point.

But whatever. Don't listen to me, I'm not going to be the one who fixes the guns you break
