I've been wanting a OTF knife for a while, I just couldn't see spending $200 + for one. I found some reviews that mentioned the AKC brand from Italy were pretty decent. They had an F-16 model that I liked so picked it up for $50 shipped.

Just got it today so no real experience on using it yet. But the blade does slide smooth & fast enough for me... & its sharp & pointy. I've never held a high end $200 + OTF so I have nothing to compare to, but I'm happy so far.

Anyone else carry a OTF for EDC? What's your opinions on OTF ...pros & cons?

I carry this OTF from Templar Knives. Made right here in Waxahachie, TX. They make a 100% USA sourced product, including the blade material.

I can't really cite any cons. I prefer OTF over fixed (length), and side folders are more clunky to operate. This is my first OTF, FWIW. Templar offers lifetime warranty. I met then at a gun show earlier this year, good people.

I have a bunch of Microtech that I have collected, but selcom carry them as I'd hate to loose one. It's been a while since I read what is legal in Texas as far as switchblades, but I thought dagger/ double edged blades were not allowed.

I looked at the Microtech & Benchmade. I own a Benchmade side folder, but carry a Kershaw Ken Onion Blur for the fear of loosing the Benchmade...lol.

They just passed that new law you can carry anything even Tomahawks.

    Gunz are icky.
Presently I’ve been carrying a Benchmade.
Darn if I can remember the model name tho.
Also have a Microtech but honestly I don’t care for it as much.
Somewhere around here I have the remains of a $27 chinesium OTF.
    Buy once. Cry once.
    LMAO.

I got a Amazon seller OTF, I will sell you for $30. It has a high rating. I asked for it for Christmas. It is pretty good for what it is but honestly I usually just buy ball bearing flippers now with a preference towards frame locks.

I tried the best OTF (Microtech). Paid $525 and returned it. My conclusion: all OTF knives suck. I am a knife snob.

Wanted an OTF knife, but I'm not gonna spend $200+ for one. So I did some searching and found the Smith & Wesson M&P OTF. It has a good solid design, operates very smooth, blade locks in good and not wobbly. Think this knife was $40.

No one but me thinks carrying an OTF knife in one's front pocket isn't dangerous for the family jewels.......oh, you say the button got pushed while you were working in the yard and everyone in the ER was laughing.....numbnuts, no painful...!

I had my Benchmade Spike open in my front pocket. Not an OTF, but a very sharp & pointy knife. Never knew it opens until I put my hand in my pocket cutting my index finger really good. For that reason I hate auto knives without a pocket clip.

Fair observation. The OTF I posted above won't lock in place if the action is impeded. E.g., if accidentally sprung while in a pocket, it would not lock. This does not 100% mitigate potential injury, but minimizes fully locked slicing while in the pocket.

look up lightning otf knives you will be happy you did. You can find them onsale at 25 bucks a pop lots of models.

Are they a $200 knife nope. I have 4 some are 5ish years old and have had no problems with them other than the metal case shows wear. Do I care if I lose it nope do I care if I pry with it nope that box needs opening sure thing. Plastic clamshell shred it.

They take a licking and keep on flicking.

nutnfancy or how ever you spell it did a review on them years ago nice long vid.

I have the same knife with a bayonet grind blade. It was to replace a Lightning I gave away. Both the AKC and Lightning are inexpensive OTF's but get the job done. I carry the AKC at work and don't worry about it getting scratched and scuffed. I also have a Guardian Tactical Recon. It's a ~$300 ish knife and is better in every way than the other two. The problem is I don't want to get it banged up so I don't carry if much. Its my "dress knife". The fit and finish and lock up is great and the blade material (CPM-154) will hold an edge longer than the AKC (440C).
