The classifieds forum will now require 5 posts in order to be utilized.

This is more of an effort to prevent scammers, and promote posting by those that wish to benefit from the usage of the classifieds forum.

Once you obtain 5 posts the forum will have to recognize that, and that may take an hour or so. If you have problems please feel free to email me, or PM me.

    Thanks

I want to thank the Admin. for this site. you run a class site and you have great members. and this is just a improvement on a good thing. I have never used the classified to sell or trade anything, but I did use it to buy some parts from another member. that is a great experiance for me. he was honest and fair, and more than a little helpful. thanks for a great forum for we who use this site.

Have y'all given any thought to some "buyer rules"? Personally, I'd like to see the "I'll take it" rule take precedent over any of the "I'll take it...if you have the bolt/grip/etc" or the ever present "I'll take it...pending pics".

Yes, serious buyers that post "I'll take it" (with no conditions) are takin' a chance but it sure beats someone with "if-this's" and "if-that's" holdin' up the show.

That, and have you considered askin' (requiring) sellers to leave their ads whole after the sale? This would keep down any static on how an item was represented etc and would also serve as a nice "nostalgia" factor for when we look back at "the old days" and how much less items cost.

    just askin',

I feel that establishing rules for a purchaser is a bit overboard. There needs to be flexibility in the classifieds process for both the buyer and seller, and the rules are dictated by common sense.

If someone is being irresponsible on either side of the deal then the offended party can contact me and I will try to mitigate the issue, if it is within my power to do so.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

By the way, if someone edits their posting I can read it prior to the edit should it become an issue.

I like it, heres my second

I would support a clause that the 5 posts must be constructive participation or "constructive in nature" in the forum such as other forums do; effectively eliminating post whoring in 3 month old threads to reach the required count.

Otherwise, the post rule means nothing. ;)

I suppose I can see the purpose in legitimizing people's intentions prior to allowing them the ability to post classifieds. Although this might prove problematic when one does not feel an expert on a particular subject.

Why not make it 10 posts or whatever.....a minimum number of posts doesn't stop spammers.....verifying people and emails will and banning their IP address will do that.....also kicking the shit out of them helps ;)

It will stop spammers, most spammers do not speak English and they utilize spambots to register on the forum. They also seek out Classifieds and other keywords.

Verifying emails does not stop spam any more. They have, for the most part, gotten around that. They also have been using human help, or have developed something, that defeats the image verification.

That is why we have the special question on the registration form. It has pretty much stopped spam registrations.

    Can this count as #1?

I've been over on another popular message board for years and just getting back into guns. Didn't even know this forum was out there until recently.
