My very own test range!!

To travel to my local range, its 35 miles one way for me. A 70 mile round tripp adds up considering gas cost $2.60 a gal and I like going at least one time a week. Sometimes Im over there 3 or 4 times a week.
I have a shop that is 150 foot long. The cost for me to travel to the range would pay off If I were to buil me an indoor shooting booth in my shop.
Here's what I plan to do.
A 30 foot long enclosed booth. It will be built like a big box. The side walls will be double walled and filled with sand so bullets cant get out. The rear wall, will be the same along with 4X4 piled up in the back wall. It will have a door that will be closed because I dont even want the sound of a shot getting out.
So, what do yall think? Could a personal booth like this be built to keep the noise level silent, so me and my budds could shoot and not have to put up with the local range issues. Im not looking for profit, just fun!!

It'll probably be this winter before I get it done though... My projects keep stacking up.

Gotta do something about ventilation. You wil notice indoor ranges have elaborate ventilation systems.

yeah ventialtion is an issue. ofcourse you could get some current gas masks and a bunch of extra filters and practice shooting with those on

I've thought of doing something similar myself. I think if you fill the walls with sand like you plan to, the sand should absorb quite a bit of sound. Also, if you hang heavy curtains from the ceiling to the floor all the way around the shooting room that'll cut down on noise as well. Don't forget to do some sound proofing on the ceiling, too. Strong ventilation is going to be a must.
