Sometimes it's the little things that make me happy.

I needed some trigger therapy today. It was nice to warm up the first handgun I ever owned, a Ruger Blackhawk .45 Convertible with the 200-year stamp. My dad bought it for me when I was 16. He got it at a combination liquor store and gun shop housed inside the Wonderland shopping mall in San Antonio.

It brought back good memories and I've never been stupid enough to sell it off. Like I said, little things can make me happy.

If any of the other Veterans on here ever run headlong into brick wall with either the VA or Tri-West, get a hold of the White House VA Hotline. Link that has a phone number in it, below. I gave them a call on Monday, things were getting done and working on Tuesday, and I received a call this morning (Friday) from a supervisor at my local VA concerning this issue. I can honestly say that I've never seen the VA move with any kind of speed like this before.

    Thanks, had no idea.
Have a Veteran buddy coming over this evening who can use this now, today.
    Much appreciated!

Seems like Houstons in good shape.

From Kingwood down to Lynchburg and then East is the wrecking zone.

I-10 is closed both ways at the San Jacinto River.

Got a radar alert for flooding back at my house in 3 hours. Not a dang thing on radar makin up.
Multiple barges broke free last night and hit the bridge columns.

Went to the Good Feet Store for mamma. Their system is 1500 bucks for 3 sets of inserts......pass.

Since it's well out of my league I'm asking out of pure ignorance, not casting any aspersions.

Why is the auto HK MP5's value for sale elsewhere so high?
    Rarity? Production date? Quality?

Attempted to try to buy a car today.

Finance manager tried to screw me on the warranty that was promised. Spent 5 hours there, negotiated a decent price, got the financing right and then he's trying to get us to sign and close out.

Ask him something about the warranty that was supposed to be in writing. It wasn't as promised...of course.

He might have said at one point "You don't need to yell."

My wife laughed and said "Oh he isn't yet."

    Sigh.

    You need a '20 Ranger. :p

I suspect there's a bit of pressure to get a vehicle quick but there are literally tons of deals to be had in your area. Be patient, especially with each other, and find one that works for you.

    Sigh.

If you want new, wait until Monday, Sept 30, in the evening, and be prepared to still walk out. Last day of the month, last day of the quarter...tons of dealer performance and rewards are based on those numbers being met.

Do your research now, be flexible on color and the world can be your oyster.

That's a good point. So I test drove a Ranger just to see and didn't really like it. Handling felt weird to me even for a truck.

Really like the Ford Edge and we were looking at a higher end model that was a dealer loaner. Price was right but it fell apart in finance.

I can probably wait 10 days but I need to get a rental. I'm going to scour the used market now that I know what I want.

    Buying a car sucks.

Yeah, it is. I bought from them back when there was one store and the owner did my fitting. Back then, you could still get one set for ~$400. They were a miracle and my foot pain was relieved. I wore out the shoes and inserts a long time ago but the healing I was able to do when I had them has enabled me to be mostly without pain all the way through until today.

They are horrifically expensive but if they work for you and if you have the sorts of terrible problems they can address, they're a bargain. The problem is that they're so expensive I can't imagine anyone buying them unless that customer is in severe, long-term pain and really desperate...which was where I was at the time. Even then, as the online reviews tend to show, it's a coin-flip whether their stuff will work for you.

That's a long-winded way of saying I loved the product but I can't recommend it because, for too many people, it will turn out to be a huge waste of money.
