I may just go with a new MVP Patrol rifle from Academy but if you have a decent shooting .308 bolt action rifle I’m looking for one. Would prefer a quality rifle, eventually want something with iron sights and a scope, but ok with just a scope for now. Budget is $200-500. I’m in Dallas but can arrange to drive reasonable distances if given enough time for the right deal. TX LTC and willing to do BOS if needed.

Made an Academy run today to look at options. With $299 .308s on the shelf I’m surprised I can’t find a decent used gun for that price range.

Wait a minute. Did you change your mind? Did you find a good used deal? Did you just grab something at academy?

    Dont leave me hanging.

My cash flew out a window after we hit some turbulence on a photo mission and I don’t expect to be able to get the .308 I wanted...

What were you looking for? I've got a RH Savage 10T I no longer shoot. Probably around 750 rounds fired through it. I've moved on to a 6.5 Creedmoor. Heavy rifle, with either a 22" or 24" non-threaded barrel, Accustock/Accutrigger, and Picatinny rail. No iron sights. With my reloads, 1/2"/100 yards. I'm in the north Dallas area.

Wasn't really picky. PM me pics and price in case I'm still able to do something.

A brand new Savage Axis II XP (with scope) is well within your stated budget. I've had the Mossberg MVP, I got rid of it pretty quickly since it did not fit my average build and since it seemed like junk, just very disappointing. A couple of other guys I knew in NY had them and also did not like the fit.

I also still have a Savage Axis XP in 308 and like it very much. The Savage Axis II XP though is one up on mine as it has an adjustable Accu-Trigger. As I said, well within your budget: https://ammoseek.com/guns/308-winchester/Savage?ikw=axis ii xp

Academy Sports has the SS version for only $374.99, that is a nice deal. See: https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/sa...-action-rifle-117414856#repChildCatid=6160609
