Senate Select Committee on Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety

    10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 30, 2019
E1.036 (Finance Room), Texas State Capitol, Austin
    Chair: Senator Joan Huffman

    https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/86R/schedules/html/C5652019103010001.HTM

The Senate Select Committee on Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety will meet to take up the following charges:

Consider the role digital media, dark web networks, and overall cultural issues play in the promotion of mass violence and how these contribute to the radicalization of individuals and incitement of racism, white supremacy and domestic terrorism. Research the link between violent video games and recent mass shootings in Texas and examine the impact of the overall fraying culture on mass shootings, including increased violence, tolerance for violence, and extremist views in our society.

Study whether the state’s interest in public safety and its ability to deter violence and dangerous conduct is enhanced by prohibiting individuals from wearing masks to intimidate others, incite violence, or engage in criminal activity, while protecting First Amendment rights to free speech and free exercise of religion.

Public testimony will be limited to 2 minutes. If submitting written testimony, please provide 15 copies to the committee clerk with your name on each.

Define white supremacy! More political BS.

The Ministry of Truth has released the following guidelines to aid in prevention of thought crime:

"I am proud to be Black!" = Black Pride
"I am proud to be Asian!" = Asian Pride
"I am proud to be Hispanic!" = Hispanic Pride

"I am proud to be White!" = Racism
"I am proud to be a White, Christian gun owner!" = Domestic Terrorist

Define white supremacy! More political BS.
Since you brought up the subject I have done some research this am.

Definition of: "White supremacy or white supremacism is the racist belief that white people are superior to people of other races and therefore should be dominant over them."

That is the short version from Wiki, but beyond that you are trying to nail jello to a wall. The long version basically says if you are white you are a white supremacist.

    https://www.adl.org/education/resources/glossary-terms/defining-extremism-white-supremacy

So after spending a good hour and going to nearly 100 websites chasing the elusive number of white supremacists I have yet to find that number. This tells me there are VERY few otherwise somebody or org would have published an estimate.

Given that, my research led me to Table 1 of the FBI hate crime stats: https://ucr.fbi.gov/hate-crime/2017/topic-pages/tables/table-1.xls

Here are some numbers for hate crimes (2017):
    Total 7,175

    Anti White 741

    Anti-Black or African American 2,013

At first blush, I thought that was rather unbalanced. Any time spent watching the news or reading the news we can find a LOT of Black on white crime. I have noticed that Black on white crime is RARELY labeled as anti-white.

"Thursday as she was walking home from the post office, pushing her son, Antonio, in a stroller. She said she saw two boys.
"A boy approached me and told me he wanted my money, and I told him I didn't have any money. And he said, 'Give me your money or I'm going to kill you and I'm going to shoot your baby and kill your baby,' and I said, 'I don't have any money,' and 'Don't kill my baby.'"
The boy tried to grab her purse and opened fire when she said tried to tell him she had no money, West said, with the shot grazing her head. She said the boy then shot her in the leg.
West continued, "And then, all of a sudden, he walked over and he shot my baby in the face."

So how do we determine anti-white bias??? NOT easy about the worst they can do is call you "cracker". BUT on the other hand, almost anything you say, even a look can be labeled as "hate".

Then where does the FBI get its stats? From victims that report the crime as a hate crime. What group of people sue and scream racism over anything?

Still trying to find the number of White supremacists in the US.

My point was that the 'commission' is actually by their statement, antagonistic at the minimum. Ask how many 'mass shootings' in Texas have killed (targeted) 'minorities' by a white shooter? Southerland? ElPaso? Midland? Our reps need to go back to 3rd grade and read the dictionary. Or maybe they heard to many stories about the KKK. Race card pandering. They need to learn how to stand up to the 'civil rights' lawyers. Texas (like most states) has all the laws needed for the 'thought police', just need to enforce them!
No new noise from the ATF/FBI on the Odessa gun seller?

Anyone attending or viewing the video of this committee's first public hearing would have no doubt they are antagonistic to the very idea of free citizens owning and using self defense tools without intense scrutiny from the state. Their first charge to examine how digital media can be used as a surveillance tool should be frightening to anyone seeing how social media companies such as Facebook and Twitter are already stepping on the necks of pro-2A rights people and groups. I have done time in "Facebook jail" and don't look forward to that possibly leading to a stretch behind real bars but I fear that may be where we are headed.
