I am a deplorable from New York City, became a Texas resident in 1972 while in the Air Force and am more Texan than most of you I would bet. I also probably have more guns than you. Being born here only means that your mom's birth control didn't work. Texan is a state of mind and I am a proud Texan.

Being born here is a gift but its no guarantee, look at Robert Francis for example. Everyone wants to be but thats not enough either. Just living here doesn't cut it and if you have to ask its probably beyond your reach. Love it, live it, protect it, cherish it and when that comes natural maybe you can call yourself Texan no matter where you might have been born.

It pains me knowing that boy is Texan.

    Somewhere in Texas!
@Mohawk600, you sir have the attitude of a yankee scum, constantly portraying an abusive and very abrasive attitude, very much like a yank. You appear to have no traits of a Southern gentleman. Your only gifts are a flapping jaw, a low brow, limited intellectual ability to comment, and an inability to contribute anything worthwhile to the forum. You sir do not demonstrate "Texan Mentality." Please leave our Great State.

In essence, you are "blivet brained."

Until the politburo requires me to file papers asking for permission to travel, I’ll choose where I want to live.

And that place is the state of Texas.

Oh, and it’s entirely possible to love Texas without being a dick about it

How far back you gotta go to be a Texan? My great grandmother was born in Texas.

The Republic of Texas, Nov 1844. Maybe I should look into her family tree and just see when they arrived.

I’m sure there are a few who aren’t particularly fond of you, either

    I don’t know what I stated that’s so surprising?
You tell people like me to go eff themselves.

What sort of reaction were you expecting?
I had kid-gloves on in my reply...I’m not an angry person, and you’re entitled to your opinion.
