Sure did digress from the topic. I'm glad to see he sent a message to NY state. You can't judge a state by what the liberal media does these days though. There are good honest people with their heads screwed on straight in all 50. Live and let live folks! I don't give a damn how other people think just don't try to force me to think your way!

Like I said in another thread, many "native Texans" are Fudds and collaborators. Often to appreciate freedom you have to live without it first.
I don't think it could be said better. Live in NYC for a while then come here and the freedom is actually overwhelming. I know, been here 20 yrs and counting.

I am a native but I have lived in a few other states. Alot of good people have moved here but I think that it is harder for people that arent from the south / west or atleast a rural area to assimilate into the traditional Texan culture that I grew up in and still live everyday.

The big takeaway is if you come here, assimilate and dont expect us to cater to you or your way of doing things because I am not changing for anyone
^^^ this right here!!! When i got here, i assimilated to the culture I moved to and didn't try to change it to the culture i came from. The culture was built by the people before me, WTF am I to change what they built? They were here first and I joined their team.

Well, wasn't born here, but got here as fast as I could (yep, I used the most famous cliche'). Born in Chicago, raised a bit in Ill. suburb, then S. La. before moving here in 1997. Son of a Chicago Gal and Mississippi Country Boy- talk about identity crisis, LOL.
I'll parrot those here saying Texan is a state of mind- in fact, I'll go a bit further and say Texan has something to do with what part of Texas you're from, too. IOW, by my experience, ALL Texans are not exactly the same. They do share a kind of primal allegiance to the Republic, however. Though I spent most of my life in a next-door state, I can say S. Louisiana and Texas are two distinctly DIFFERENT cultures. Once I settled in here, I found Texas to be much more friendly to strangers (that is, as long as I showed a modicum of respect) as opposed to the stand-offish Cajun culture.
Racism seems to be less of an issue here as well- Black vs. White, in particular.
I also agree there is a marked difference in City vs. Country culture- I've been thoroughly exposed to both during my time and I do find Country folks to be more respectful of others and more likely to show random acts of kindness.
Anyway, as one who can truly say he's a man without a "home" state, I'm glad I came and Long Live the Republic!!

Oh to live such a simple life that all things boil down to: those who think like me are good and right, and everyone else can go to hell.

When you abandon affiliation with some group as being what makes your life worth living it can be uncomfortable, but that is when life becomes worth living!

Vaquero, I agree I'm late to the party but I couldn't tell you who's who in this thread. The only thing that concerns me is the exodus of people, from Democrat lead states, trying to get away from the failures in their cities. They can come, our government in Texas is preferred, but when you get here do not come here to change Texas to blue. They may need to switch parties and continue to enjoy what has been built.
The animosity in the rhetoric makes it hard to identify peoples loyalty.

Assimilation is deeply important for societal harmony. The first thing we did wrong was not making English the language of America. This started our immigration problems. The movement of people inside the country requires assimilation but allows affiliation.
When you see the failed cities under Democrat leadership there is a reason to not want people coming here and changing Texas. There will be affiliation but there has to be a certain amount of assimilation with social customs.

The reason Pelosi and Hilary started all the California fires was to get those people to move to Texas....

Do any of you watch the Nat-Geo channel and the Maine Law. When you see scenes of their high voltage lines they all have the forest cut back about 50 yards on each side of the line. They also have all the trees near most other lines cut away also, they cut the limbs out of trees near lines here too.
It seems that if Californians were smart they would keep stuff that burns away from theirs. President Trump has told them to clean the brush but looks like they would rather see the fires.

And here I thought Texans were friendly and supportive of others who were libertarian or conservative. How wrong I have found myself to be after moving here only to find Texans like you who are more like the hateful liberals of NY and CA, the ones whose hateful politics helped me decide I'd move out, than I could ever have imagined. If I find enough like you here, I'll leave TX too, who needs haters like you who judge others by your self righteous preconceived notions!

By the way, my friggin patriotic duty has nothing to do with the shithole called NY from which I departed. My patriotic duty is to the United States of America not a single friggin state like NY, CA or even your beloved Texas. I did my part for decades in NY to fight the oppression. I went to rallies, joined pro-gun rights organizations, wrote to politicians, tried to convince people of the error of their libturd ways, donated goodly amounts of money to pro-RKBA organizations, helped support a youth shooting program, donated to political candidates on the right, but then reality set in. It got to the point where I had to face the truth - stay in NY and be arrested for taking the liberty to exercise my rights or move to someplace freer in the hopes of carrying on the fight there. Then I got here and guys like you want to make Texas as unwelcoming and oppressive as New York for guys like me. How leftist of you to be just like those scumbags in NY whose leftist ideals convinced me to move elsewhere in the first place.

Luckily though, so far I have found most Texans do not think hatefully like you.

I think you have it right. The difficulty of identifying anyone here is,'what's the truth?', or is there any. When you read from post to post you can't even tell who people are and the left likes anonymity.

What are you saying? Do you believe that most of Alaska is like the north pole? I will agree that much of it is permafrosted, but there is land under that ice. They don't measure ice as land mass.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and venture the opinion you tend to lean just a bit literal...

They don't know what's under that ice, I'll believe it when I see it til then I stand by my assertion - not much bigger than Arkansas. :stir:

I suppose you also believe Antarctica is nothing but ice too? That's cool, believe what you want.

You can call me a deplorable! Born, raised and educated in NE Louisiana, so southern by grace of God, Texan by choice, been here 40 years now, after a 10 year stint in the USAF back in the Vietnam days.Really needing a bigger house for another big gun safe, and place to store ammo, some acreage for a private range would be nice, but those funds went toward sending the son through UT at Austin, and then law school over in Miss. At least he's southern. We need to send the Californians, New Yorker's, and psudo southerner's, aka Floridians back home. I did spend 5 years at Eglin AFB in the panhandle and that's pretty much the south as compared to the little New York of central to southern Florida.

Panhandle Floridians are southerners. Most of the people in south florida are carpetbaggers, the elderly and cubans
