Camp Mabry has a parachute shop?!?
It's in the back past the USPFO, just on this side of the fence from the US Army Reserve building. Don't know if it's still being used as a parachute shop. I think there might be one airborne battalion left from the 71st Abn Bde back in the 70's. There were airborne battalions over most of the Eastern half of the state back then with HQ in Houston. All the chutes were packed at the Austin facility and trucked to the units throughout the state for training jumps.

The parachute shop was originally located in building 6 until 1971 when the new facility was completed.

A heart filled gratitude to all that served.

    Reinz,

EACH time that I see one of your posts with the "HOT REDHEAD" avatar, I'm reminded of a friend of mine's comment that, "This year, I find it rather pitiful that the SEXIEST Hollywood siren is a cartoon of a HOT redhead." He paused the then said, "WHERE, OH WHERE are the Marilyn Monroes of this decade?? MM has been gone now for decades & she still 'gets my attention' like no other woman".
(Fwiw, I feel the SAME about the late Veronica Lake.)

    yours, satx
