My name is Taqi Hasnain and I am a student at the University of Texas. I am 19 years old and have recently made it a goal to become better versed in general "gun talk" as well as better understanding fellow Texans who are gun owners. Although I myself do not own a firearm, I felt that this forum for Texas gun owners was a good place to get genuine responses from real people.

I am working on a statistics project which investigates the relationship between education, marriage, children, and the age at which an individual purchases their first firearm. I'm mostly interested in looking at the "age of first firearm purchase".

OPTIONAL: Responding to this short survey is totally voluntary (this would be considered a volunteer sample). I appreciate if anyone has a quick minute to respond, but all I ask is that all 4 questions on the survey be completed as I would only be able to use data from individuals who answer all questions.

All responses will be anonymous (email addresses are NOT to be collected, only responses for a larger data spreadsheet).

ETA: You didn't ask, but I "recieved" my first firearm at age 6, obviously I wouldn't be able to buy one at that age....

I answered your survey, as it only asked basic information and nothing "personal."

And I didn't even see anywhere to include an email address.

Just my opinion, but I would remove the ability to submit multiple replies. I doubt anyone will try to skew your data, as #Reinz noted it has no ambiguous slant; but you never know!

Just general survey design feedback.

Federal and state laws establish minimum ages to purchase various types of firearms, so expect there to be few age answers below 18.

Also, if you’re looking for correlation, every question after the first should be in the context of “At the age when you purchased your first firearm....”
