In cased any of you missed it this weekend the Flat Earth International Conference took place in Dallas Nov. 14-15th.

    https://flatearthconference.com

The mental gymnastics required to reconcile what we know is absolute fact about the universe with the idea of a flat earth must certainly make this symposium a cerebral jizz-fest for participants.

Most definitely there is a bimodal distribution of attendees.
    1.
Those science deniers who actually consider this drivel as plausible theory or fact.
    2.
Those cosmology empiricists (like me) who would participate for the sheer delight of nerd-o-genic pseudo-scientific debate.

I think I'd have a delightful time commiserating in such a setting with the science deniers and I might even infiltrate their ranks.
I'm well documented to believe only 1/3 of my utterances.
I could blend in with scant difficulty.

As much as I'd like to delude myself into thinking that all attendees are just there for the sake of similar fun...I know, as a statement of experiential fact, that there are those who consider a spherical earth to be the mother of all conspiracy theories.

    g'nite.
Wife is tired. Dog is snoring. Lights out.

Nope. Different group. If we had really landed on the moon, why didn't we build a moon base that Martin Landau could command by 1999?

It’s the same group. Flat Earthers believe there is a dome that prevents us leaving the atmosphere because “a pressurized atmosphere couldn’t exist next to a vacuum”.

They also typically don’t believe in gravity.

Though I have yet to see one jump off a 10 story building to disprove gravity.

We may not understand all of gravity's natures or properties.
Same can be said of women.
    Both are an indisputably reality.

I used to argue with these guys, but their dedication to this crazy idea is on par with religious fanaticism. Free Masons control NASA, they can't explain the Japanese satellites that have nothing to do with Mason's, Russian, Chinese, nor Indian space agencies. They can't explain how the Greeks knew the world was sphere 6,000 years ago. They can't explain the north and south spherical astrological hemispheres. Crazy flat earfers.

Again, not all Moon-landing deniers are Flat Earthers. Some moon-landing deniers don't think that the US or USSR had the technical capability to successfully land on the moon and the US moon landing was staged.

I’ve entertained myself by arguing that the earth is flat.

Since most people don’t care to understand why things work like they do it was easy to make up bullshit and go in circles with it.

    I resemble that!

I have a couple friends that are into all sorts of odd beliefs and conspiracy stuff....Area 51, chemtrails, channeling, alien crop circles, Illuminati, Epstein was murdered (!) and so on.

The Flat Earthers are just a newer extension of our society's lack of critical thinking acumen ?

If I know any Flat Earthers they keep it to themselves I suppose
