    Yep, nothing works for everyone.

DNA plays a big part in an appropriate diet for each individual, as well as being a possible indicator of the propensity for future medical issues.

If you can measure the likelihood, you can take preventative steps that have a better chance of success.

I did the keto for a month, but I can't stand most of the vegetables it allows you to eat. And coconut flower and almond flower also suck. So after losing most of the weight I needed to I am back on a regular diet with plenty of exercise and water. Oh, and no suger or corn syrup.

I did the keto for a month
I did it for a few days. I was so constipated that I was a day away from walking into an urgent care facility. Luckily, I had one of those Suprep kits used to get ready for a colonoscopy. You know how when you drink that stuff you have to make an emergency trip to the toilet in just a few minutes? I waited around for hours before it finally worked.

I'm willing to try keto again but if I do I'll also be including at least a quarter cup of Dextrin in my diet every day.

    I drank some calcium citrate
Two bottles of that. Every OTC pill, several times, in excess dosages. Mineral oil. Every powder fiber. Every powder laxative. Nothing worked. I was in minor pain, then serious pain, finally in enough pain that I couldn't imagine 24 more hours. If the prescription stuff hadn't worked, I would have been in a medical facility.

Needless to say, I'm a little gun-shy about keto. Still, I know I'll try it again. The immediate benefits to my blood sugar numbers cannot be denied.

When my gut issues were diagnosed, I took 400 mg of magnesium citrate every night before bed...for years.

It was more of a maintenance dose, to ensure I dropped the browns off at the Super Bowl when I woke up in the morning, like clockwork. Worked wonders...lots of folks with IBS-C take it regularly.

These days I can generally control my issues with diet, but I keep some on hand in case I get a flare up.

Small maintenance doses are easier to live with than taking a large dose that comes on all at once...and nearly soiling yourself in the 1.8 second sprint you just did to get to the crapper.

But Ben it sounds like you experienced something serious that’s best left to the pros.

I tried a keto pizza once. It was all almond flour and LOTS of cheese. It made me very, very constipated. Never again!

For me I have tried a few of the fake flowers and its just not worth it.

It reminds you how good pizza and pasta make you feel So why torment yourself.

If your buying all the Keto stuff your fooling yourself. When it started none of that was out there and people made it work. Now companies are jumping on the bandwagon and making you think what you are buying is Keto friendly or needed to make the diet plan work. Its not and all it does is line the companies pockets.

You are better off lining the Dr office pockets than the companies selling that crap.

There is also a well know connection between diabetes and low T in men. Low T effects your insulin sensitivity.

Anyone having issues with this should also ask their doc about It.

    QFT

Sheep will be sheep, even more so when looking for an easy way out of bad eating habits.

And why I rarely use the term "keto" to describe my eating life style.

I prefer saying "low carb, high quality fat", done by using a specific macro nutrient ratio that depends upon whether I'm trying to lose fat, or maintain weight.

Keto does not allow fiber? I have diverticulitis and eat a high fiber diet, and can easily do so without consuming the high glycemic index carbs.

When I am at my best physically and weight wise I eat a balanced diet of 40% carb, 30% protein and 30% fat. I avoid the white carbs and pasta, and eat monounsaturated fats. I also consume the calories appropriate for my activity level, weight and bodyfat percentage. What is the Keto percent of carb vs protein vs fat?

Fiber is good and is fine on keto depending where you get it.
avocado is a great fiber source for keto

I guess I missed you answering someone else thought you were asking.

Depends on what you're trying to do - getting into the state of ketosis and becoming fat adapted, and losing fat, i.e., not muscle (not same as losing weight) usually recommends the following:

A daily macro nutrient ratio of calories from a diet of 70% quality Fat, 25% Protein, 5% Carbs.

I didn't mean to give that impression. Keto, afaik, places no restrictions on fiber.

My problem was my incompetent implementation of the keto diet. I made a major change in diet without making sure that I got enough fiber. That was stupid on my part. Next time I commit to keto, I'm going to make sure I take in a ridiculous amount of fiber.
