So you think a .45ACP doesn't have substantial enough "knockdown power" over a 9mm? With all due respect, that is not correct.

All gunfight statistics show that it is.

Pistols are all about shot placement and capacity. The more shots on target you make with a pistol the higher the likelihood you will make a shot that is placed in a fatal area. When I was an armed guard in the early 00s I used to carry a .45 because "they don't make a .46." I'm glad i never had to use it because I was stupid and ill informed in how important shot placement was over caliber.

I've never had a problem with the .40S&W. During the first great ammo shortage, it was readily available while the other calibers disappeared.

That’s why I bought my Glock 27. I was low on 9mm ammo (not EVER gonna make that mistake again) and .40S&W was usually available.

I bought a 9mm Lone Wolf conversion barrel (and a bunch of 9mm mags) for the G27 once 9mm ammo became available again. It was a straight drop in and has been 100% reliable.

I think you touched on a few good points that I want to expand on.

The current craze is micro-9s for concealed carry. Few if any of these are chambered in 40 S&W.

9mm (and 45 AARP) have been around much longer but also the military never used the 40. Many people really still think the military is some basis for what works and what doesn't. Law enforcement moving away hurts it too for the same reason.

Revolvers are being chambered in 9mm more and more. I don't know of any that are chambered in 40 S&W specifically. Yes, you can shoot them in 10mm revolvers that use moon clips but that's not the point.

Some military units did use .40, though i can't name them off the top of my head.

Yeah, but! According to some folks, holding only six measly rounds is unacceptable for self defense! :green: If it was one of those "wonder nines", you'd have enough ammo to back-up the first shots that didn't stop the perp!
I often wonder what gun battles these people get into where they feel they need so many rounds. Of course that being said, I do have an extra mag with me.

I found the attached. I read once the Glock 22 was preferred for a time in the sandbox for checkpoints, environments where you were likely to be engaging a vehicle....."Delta Force have reportedly been known to use the Glock 22, a full-size pistol chambered in .40 S&W....it's rumored that some operators switched to Glock 22s as they were deemed more reliable in the sandy conditions...."

Nope 9mm is obsolete now. Since death by volume is a popular strategy, 5.7x28mm pistols are now king as their standard capacity magazine holds 20 rounds!

"5.7x28mm" is an interesting round. Mags hold a jillion bullets, the bullets are super fast, etc., etc. I do think the 5.7 is an interesting concept for self protection, etc.
With proper projo's and if the bad guy is wearing body armor. Maybe.

But for 1/3 the price a glock and a little practice also overcomes body armor.
