    MTA89,

NICE Black Bass, imo. = CONGRADS.

Inasmuch as I'm a "catch, measure, tag, photograph & release" shark hunter/conservationist, I can tell you that you are 100% CORRECT.
(Once completed, you cannot tell that the mounted trophy is a replica, presuming that the taxidermist is gifted as a painter/artist.)

Fwiw, I have NOT killed any large shark in nearly a half-century (I do take/eat Bonnet-heads, as they are GREAT-TASTING & VERY NUMEROUS.) & have NO shark trophies on the wall BUT I've seriously considered having a mount made of "my" BABY TIGER (66.75" long), that I caught on a saltwater flyrod & with a streamer fly. = Fwiw, that was "one H of a tussle" on a flyrod. Why the baby (female) Tiger hit a fly is more than I can explain.
(I was fishing for baby tarpon, which are REALLY FUN to play with on a long whippy rod & low-test line.)

When I was a student in TX Master Naturalist class, I told a Game Warden about catching my "littlest man-eater" & he said, "Did you have her mounted?"
I told him "NOPE. - We weighed, measured, tagged, took photos & 'wished her well', when we lowered her over the side, to go grow up."

The GW then said, "If you would like a mount of her, take your photos & measurements to any GOOD taxidermist & wait. - You'll, I believe, get a beautiful trophy for your wall, that you can be proud of."
He paused & then said, "IF I had been lucky enough to take any Tiger on a flyrod, that's what I would do for sure."
(Once we build the house at Port A, I'm going to have a replica of her made for the wall of my study.)

Note: Since 2 of our members asked, YES I kept the big streamer fly that I caught "the littlest man-eater" on. - When I have a replica made, the "well-chewed" streamer fly will be mounted on the plaque with her.

If you have the measurements & few pics, especially of certain details a good taxidermist could make a replica.
I had a 26" multi spot redfish made into a replica. It was the 1st one id had ever caught with more than 6 or 7 spots on one side. Ive seen pics where they look like a leopard.
Mine had 19 on one side & 18 on the other side.

Here is one of those leopard spotted redfish with 670 spots....edit....not my fish

I have a picture of a big bass I caught right after I got out of the Marines. There are some places online that can make up a fish mount with just a picture. Im going to try that out real soon

I am much more of a hunter but I thought this was pretty cool considering I just spent 4 years being a social security number with legs for uncle same. For relation, I am 210 pounds and 6' 1"

There is one that lives in the creek by UTD. I have seen him numerous times around dawn. I have left food out for him, trying to get closeups from a remote camera. No joy. I hear him sometimes at night.

I am willing to set my wife's Peke out as tethered bait but she keeps vetoing the idea for some silly reason.

A friend in Plano has one come into his yard to eat the dogs food. 7’ wood privacy fence is no problem. Jumps in, casually walks up to the porch and chows down. Middle of the day.

He videoed it once while eating lunch at home. He stays out with the pooch till she does her business now.

    EZ-E,

Fwiw, I've never in 73 years caught a Speck anywhere near 30". = VERY NICE.

    yours, satx

Here’s a 36 1/2” speck. Didn’t realize it was 1 1/2” from the state record till EZ told me. My wife was a great fisher woman.

    deemus,

A friend, who lives near the family's mountain lair in WV, has been feeding an about HALF-TAME red fox vixen for 3-4 years ON his picnic table.- "Sadie" loves cat food.= One PM "about dusky dark" he came outside & discovered that he was also feeding a LARGE Bobcat.

Jack said that the cat was "just downright purty".

    deemus,

FYI, I talked to Jack last night.
He said that, "I got home later than usual on Tuesday evening & went out to feed my fox. When I got out to the picnic table, I found that I was 'being carefully watched' by the vixen."

He put out her supper & he then said that she didn't even wait for him to go back onto the deck before she hopped onto the table & "chowed down". = NOT at all a wild fox anymore, for sure.

Btw, I've seen his "pet" & she is one of those LOUD-colored Red Foxes & very PURTY.

    yours, satx
