Guy who used to work for me inherited a house in Dallas. He was in the process of renovating it, which is a challenge as he lives in CA/LA.

At any rate, he sent this to me earlier today...

    Out here by the lake!
If they are an insured business and not a fly by night bunch of illegal aliens.
Most tear downs I've seen are done by one company Cherry Demolition. 1 excavator & a few big trucks. Hardly a bunch of fly by night illegal aliens. By the size of Cherry Companies the parent company I doubt there is any reason to be conncerned about being made whole.

They demoed a house with gas, water and electric still hooked up?
    What a bunch of dumbasses
That's the big thing you check before taking a house down
I'm guessing at least some of these services were in place.

I didn’t ask...they were in the middle of renovating it so I’d imagine it had power at the very least. The house was supposedly in pretty good shape to begin with.

I do know that it’s been tied-up in litigation for over a year after the owner passed, and a deadbeat family member was squatting in it for a while.

He’s bummed because it was a 1923 craftsman, all original including doors, floors and fixtures. Things like original crystal doorknobs aren’t easy to replace.

In other words, lots of sentimental, as well as monetary, value.

I’ve seen demo companies wreck out live 3 phase transformers. Never underestimate the stupidity that walks among us.

My buddy is a managing director at Citibank, says this happens a lot more than you’d think...yikes

Yup! I read about a case where a family on vacation returned to find their former home was now a vacant lot. The home was fully furnished and occupied, red flags everywhere, crew wrecked it anyway.
How'd it happen? A clerical error, transposed numbers on the paperwork!
