    Friends,

This post may well be the oddest request ever on the forum but it is NOT a prank/joke.

My military boarding school has owned a M1 75mm Pack Howitzer, which is used as a ceremonial gun, since shortly after WWII. - It has metal wheels with rubber tires.

It was recently refurbished & I have been asked to find/purchase a standard ARMY CANVAS COVER for protecting the little artillery piece from the elements & other possible damage, when it is transported to & from numerous events. - It is normally towed with an Army Jeep.

IF any of our members has a source where I can buy an Army issue canvas cover for the gun, PLEASE notify me at: K3CSA@yahoo.com

    THANKS, satx

As a MACV MAT team leader we had a VC in our area who had 75 pack howitzer we had given the Viet Mein to fight the Japanese in WWII. He was an excellent shot at blowing up bunkers and bridges. He was frugal with the ammo. I never caught him or understood where he got the ammo. He never killed any of my folks but was a huge nuisance. I secretly admired him.

    Cover??

Heck, I need the 75mm Pack Howitzer. My wife can make a cover for it.

    oldag,

Inasmuch as "the little cannon that could" was a "parting gift" from a WWII Flag Officer, who was an alumni of our school, money wouldn't buy it, as it's PRICELESS to all of our ex-cadets.
(I'm told that the M1 howitzer was used in The Battle of the Bulge.)

    yours, satx

    Bozz10mm,

NO, I have not, as The Corps wants an ORIGINAL cover for our little "mascot".

I could have a suitable cover made but that's NOT what is desired, considering how much $$$$$$$$$ that the refurbishment to WWII specs cost us.
(I actually suggested that I have a cover for the gun made in our school colors, GREEN & PURPLE, with the name of the school emblazoned upon both sides of the cover but that was "turned down" as "inauthentic".)

    yours, satx

    Dallas Texas or so
There is an army navy surplus store in Fort Worth that has almost everything from World War 1 to World War 3 coming up. The variety of things they have is amazing.

Unfortunately I can't remember the name.

Yeah I seen it. Another person to try would be Marshall Morgan of Vega Ballistics, he might see your ad on sturmgewehr.

    baboon,

ODDLY, that site won't let me use "satx78247", as that "name" is being used by another member.
(I was surprised that someone else in the same zip code is on the site, too.)

Sturmgewehr.com is an old gun board. Lots of folks in Texas & San Antonio due to it being a Texas based forum. I'll bet you are not aware of NFA legend/writer Dolf Goldsmith lives in San Antonio
