The City of Dallas just shut down pretty much everything.

No groups of people over 50 to assemble. Does this include workplaces? Grocery stores? Hospitals? How about Dallas Love Field?

50 people is 50 people. You're either serious or you're just pretending you are.

Also why the number 50? Why not 10? Why not 100? Why is the magic number 50?

Restaurants can only provide takeout, drive through, or delivery service. No more dining in. A sick worker can still infect you through the three excepted methods. They closed bars, why not shut down restaurants too?

What's the difference between 50 people in a theater watching a movie and 50 people working in their office? Why is one closed and the other not?

So far, everything announced to slow down the spread is nothing more than mental masturbation.

If you really want to stop it then shut down EVERYTHING. If you did that for two weeks the virus would burn out. Instead we have these half-assed, feel good measures that aren't going to do a thing.

"Social Distancing Measures" is the new phrase now that I have started to see being used online. It makes it kind of sound all intelligent and official like. My apartment complex just used this phrase to justify closing down our leasing office until further notice. Does that mean that I no longer need to pay rent?

If I was the father of a teenage daughter I would be happy as a clam if they stayed 6 ft from each other and didn't congregate in large numbers. However staying home all the time not being able to go out will of course cause a baby boom in 9 months what else is a couple to do. Some other good things is that the drunks will stay off the roads, Live PD will become super boring with nothing open but Wal Mart and fights over toilet paper, a lot of domestics with husband and wife fighting over what to watch on tv. Such is life.

I've heard talk of restaurants only doing take out, but I had not heard that Dallas went and made that mandatory. So much for groceries getting back in stock.

You think things are crazy now, wait till people are turned away from hospitals.

That is what they are trying to avoid. Reduce the spread of the disease to avoid millions per month getting it. There is some number (10K, 100K, 1M, etc) they can handle per month indefinitely, but over that they run out of resources. So slow it down and spread it out over time.

    My buddy posted this elsewhere.
I want to believe it’s true, but really who knows...

My gun collecting neighbor got a text from another friend today. This "friend" is a lefty. He seriously asks if he can borrow a gun in case things get crazy.

Hey, can I borrow a gun?

Um, no. That would be illegal. Gun laws, you know?

    But I need one now....

Um, no. You have to go take a safety class, and show you can operate a firearm.

    But...

Then there's the mandatory ten day waiting period. Gun laws you wanted, remember?

Yes, I know but I need one..

LOL. Sorry, we need to keep guns out of the hands of people who have no business handling firearms.
