He has to, at least, get the money back that he paid for it. The only gun that I paid less for than he had paid for it was my very first gun.

I'll never forget how excited he was when he told me he had found the gun for me. He had had his eye out for something to come in that would suit me for my first gun.

One morning I came in for work and he was all excited. As soon as I walked in the door, he told me he had found the gun for me. And, he had. A Walther PK380, the perfect carry gun for me.

I may love my 1911 and 5906. But, they're too big to carry.

My wife absolutely loves her Walther PK380. I also enjoy shooting it, but I loathe cleaning it. I need to get a captive guide rod for it, then I won't dislike it as much.

Also why haven't you gotten that MK25 yet?

That's the Navy Seals version, correct? I had the same temptation not long ago - seems like there was one for sale either here or that other Texas board. I passed on it but that doesn't mean you should. iirc, I think I also had my eye on a S&W 686+ at the time (which I also didn't end up buying).

You do realize that is/will be quite the heavy pistol to carry as well? I often carry a 229 and find it to be quite heavy enough as it is. And that doesn't include any extra magazines or mag. carriers. People often scoff at a few extra ounces. Those same people have never carried those few extra ounces multiplied by many few extra ounces for hours, or days on end.

If this is just a range toy, disregard my previous statement. And I'll ask this, why have we not seen pictures of your new Sig? Huh? Well? When do we get to see it. :green:

Magazines underloaded will lighten the load.

I remember the first time I held a 226 in the mid ‘90s. It fit my hand like a glove. I shot one last year that I will be getting fairly soon.

Don’t put yourself in a bind if you buy it. The guy who bought the first one I held lived on the cheapest white bread at the store and free Taco Bell sauces for 2 months to buy it. It was a great pistol, but I am not sure I would go that far.

I've been attracted to the P226 for a while, but never thought seriously about it because of the price. Since we have a used P226 in the store right now, I got to actually hold it in my hand. That's what did it.

Well, that plus the fact that I already have a little money saved for another gun that's been out of stock lately.

I keep going back and forth between "It's insane to spend that much money on a gun" and "It's beautiful and I want it".

Just do it already before someone else buys it. Plus if the price is good then go for it before you regret letting it go.

I've had multiple semi auto Smiths including 2 different 5906. In my limited experience, the Sigs are way better. Nothing against the Smiths but they weren't right for me.

No, not that cheap. More like $750-800. So, is that a bad price then?

I seen on the gunshop website it was selling for $850... gun broker ised i seen $900 & new was $1k.
I figured if you brother got it for a good price ... such as $600ish then youd have found an awesome deal. Id say for $750 it would be a good purchase... depending on how much ammo you have stocked up

    Gunz are icky.
But, the price just isn't good enough to warrant buying it right now.

    OK. I've decided. I think.

I've decided that I do want one eventually. But, the price just isn't good enough to warrant buying it right now.

Of course, I may change my mind tomorrow.

Thank you all for your input.

Keep your eyes peeled for P226 police trade ins in 9mm. I’ve seen them go for under $500 in VG condition.

I work at Modern Elite Firearms in San Antonio. My brother owns the store.

The Sig feels wonderful. It's probably the most comfortable gun I've ever held. I can reach all the controls better than on most guns. It's heavy like I like, yet not too heavy.

As a matter of fact, that's my only concern. I generally prefer very heavy guns for 9mm because that absorbs a lot of recoil. The P226 is probably still heavy enough. But, I really should shoot it first to make sure.

If anyone happens to have one that I can try out, please let me know. I'll have to call around to see if I can find one to rent.
What kind of brother doesn't just give his sister a gun?
