    To do WHAT, exactly?
Or are they planning something WE won't like??

Well, probably. USCG has a pretty specific mission in the US Military.
I don’t see how up to 1,000,000 Nat. Guard and USCG reservists can help with “fighting COVID19 “ but I can easily see how they could enforce travel restrictions and quarantine orders

DoD has been mum on the severity of infection among active duty troops. My guess is the "up to" is to keep the readiness force available.

I imagine the whole social distancing thing didn't really catch on in the military until it was too late.

Just heard today 300 service members, 500 dependents and contractors. One dependent and one contractor died.

30 sailors on one aircraft carrier and 2 on Reagan, no fatalities.

I wonder if they, like the rest of the US, are behind on testing and results and expect this to explode? If it gets on the boats, there's not a lot of room to isolate unless they head somewhere warm and all camp out on deck.

    Here’s the actual EO.

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/presiden...idual-ready-reserve-armed-forces-active-duty/

The authorization gives DoD the authority for up 1M activations at the federal level. Most of these will be activating traditional guard and reserve units and individuals for full-time Title 10 status. That worries me little.

The order also includes the IRR; these are the retirees like me, and those separated (until their commitment is met) who may or may not be physically qualified to return to duty. Again, This worries me little. You’re looking at people who used to do some unique jobs in the military in small career fields who can serve as a backstop to keep certain by-law programs running while the healthy dudes go do whatever needs to be done.

What concerns me is the size of the authorization implies a contingency that National Guard units will be available for activation, whether it’s because states have fenced them off under Title 32, or they’re not mission capable due to due to medical status.

Who knows what the state governor will have the Guard doing under Title 32, but that might get messy. Like Katrina messy.
