No buts it’s a long story I won’t bore you with now. Bullet point version:

It was late.
I was on a motorcycle headed to Ft. Stockton.
Deer were all over the road (Hwy 67 south of San Angelo).
I REALLY needed a place to bed down for the night.
Thought I was gonna have to hunker down in a parking lot somewhere.
Found a motel on the south side of Big Lake.
Once I found out they had a room, I wouldn’t have been any happier if it had been the Waldorf.
